Premier Construction Magazine- Issue 16-2

Dear readers,

Once again, Premier Constructionā€™s monthly round up of big news in the building industry brings you bang up to date with all the latest developments nationwide.

Up in Montrose for example, the resurrection of the port is underway in a project to replace a collapsed quay with two deep water berths for large vessels.

Moving down to Manchester and shifting the focus from water to land transport, contractors are powering ahead on the massive multi million poundĀ  Metrolink contract, which will see the size of Manchesterā€™s current Metrolink tram network almost treble, and is geared to delivering a world-class tram system around the city.

Meanwhile down south in North Devon, construction is well advanced on the largest on-shore wind farm to be built in England to date – the 22 turbine Fullabrook Wind Farm development. Moving across the country and bringing good news for motorists, the Ā£370 million A3 Hindhead Tunnel project is completing the dual carriageway link between London and Portsmouth and removingĀ  a major source of congestion.

Calling in on Suffolk, the social housing sector is receiving a boost because Waveney District Councilā€™s has decided that decent homes are not enough and is on site with a scheme taking their housing improvements over and above the Government standard.

And across the sea in in Eire, a building promoting the three ā€˜Esā€™ of employability, entrepreneurship and enterprise is taking shape in Belfast Metropolitan Collegeā€™s 3Es building project, whilst not to be outdone, North Down County Council is currently constructing an Olympic class leisure centre providing an elite training facility ideal for top swimmers and athletes, as well as the local community.

…And thatā€™s just for starters! Read on and get the lowdown on all the latest construction highlights brought to you this month and every month – by Premier Construction.

Roma Publications Ltd would like to apologise for an error on pages 38-41 in issue 15.8 of Premier Construction.Ā  The editorial on Tarka Housing Association should have highlighted Westcountry Maintenance Services Ltd as main contractors on this project as well as Pearce Construction (Barnstaple) Ltd.

Both contractors are equally responsible for carrying out Decent Homes scheme improvements to housing managed by Tarka Housing Association and located in and around Bideford in Devon.Ā  This monthā€™s edition of Premier Construction highlights the works that both Westcountry Maintenance Services Ltd and Pearce Construction (Barnstaple) Ltd have carried out on this project.
