London & South East NHBC Awards

“A great accolade” for Terry

Proudly achieving his third Quality Award is Persimmon Homes Thames Valley Region’s Terry Robbens, senior site manager at Heartwood Gardens, Wheathampstead, who describes the award as “A great accolade.”

“Dedication, attention to detail – and working long hours!” helped to win the award for Terry, who also prides himself on being able to manage people. “At the end of the day it’s not just my work – it’s a team effort,” said Terry, adding “This is the first award that Persimmon Homes Thames Valley region has ever won.”

Personal congratulations from his construction director marked the appreciation of the company.

Terry, who has been with the company since 2004, started his career as a site labourer in the mid 1990s, before rising through the ranks.

Currently, sales at the development are going very well.

The distinctive traditional detached two bedroom coach houses and three and four bedroom family houses offer an excellent internal specification and private parking in Wheathampstead – one of Hertfordshire’s most attractive and sought after villages. NLA Services Ltd was responsible for the supply and installation of the street lighting columns on the site.

Each property on the development features the specification and quality for which Charles Church is renowned. There is also a unique coach house design for those seeking something a little different.

The 67 homes on the development are being built in a range of elevational treatments, which have been sympathetically styled to blend harmoniously with the surrounding area.

Kitchens come in a choice of units with laminate worktops, a stainless steel gas hob, an oven and chimney hood, an integrated dishwasher and ceramic tiling. Bathrooms have white sanitaryware with chrome fittings and a choice of ceramic wall tiling, whilst all properties have gas fired central heating, a mains operated smoke detector, a steel faced front door and fencing to the rear garden.

Such is the popularity of Heartwood Gardens that over 100 eager house hunters visited the development on the first day of the launch and three properties were sold immediately.

Located on the edge of the village of Wheathampsted, Heartwood Gardens is within reach of Green Belt countryside yet is an easily commutable distance to St Albans, which offers fast rail connections into London.

Wheathampstead is a large village situated north of St Albans; it is considered to be part of the surrounding villages of Harpenden. Wheathampstead has a vibrant local community and the high street houses everything you would expect from a village as well as beauty parlours, restaurants and bespoke jewellery design.

With a number of conservation areas and architecture dating back to past centuries, the village has a traditional atmosphere which is enjoyed by all age groups. A number of quaint old whitewashed buildings are now home to village shops and restaurants and a farmers’ market is held each month within the village.
