The National Construction College in Birmingham recently played host to a visit from the Prime Minister, David Cameron.

Visiting one of Europe’s largest construction colleges on the day the government announced a series of initiatives aimed at boosting house building, Mr Cameron said:

“The construction industry has a major contribution to make to economic recovery. If we are to realise the full potential of that contribution it is essential that we have a highly skilled workforce.
“The National Construction College in Birmingham is a centre for excellence in delivering that workforce and I have been extremely impressed by the students and staff I have met here today.

“The construction industry has faced huge challenges over recent years and I welcome the initiative it is taking through the Construction4Growth campaign to work with the Government to kick start the industry and return it to growth.”

Andy Walder Director of the National Construction College said:

“It has been great to show the Prime Minister some of the work we do here.  Our apprentices will go on to take on some of the biggest roles in construction.  Many of them will set up their own businesses and some go onto senior roles in some of the biggest construction companies in the world.”
