Dear readers,

Welcome to the latest edition of Premier Construction magazine. This month’s edition of Premier Construction focuses on a selection of fantastic projects – from new builds to restorations – which are taking place across the UK and overseas.

In this edition we cast our eye over the new bus station which is set to arrive in Mansfield; we discuss the impressive work being undertaken on Deganwy Castle Hotel; and we take a look at the new SEA LIFE attraction heading to Manchester.

Mansfield bus station will open its doors for the first time on March 31st 2012 and promises to provide passengers with 21st Century travel. Situated in the heart of the town, the station replaces a former facility off Rosemary Street and is located just 180 meters from the town’s market place. The new station is fully enclosed, offering passengers a comfortable waiting area, with retail units, toilets and a baby changing area. The fully glazed building also features a fully-staffed travel information office as well as a state-of-the-art video wall.

Meanwhile, the £2 million Deganwy Castle Hotel project comprises the conversion of an existing Grade II Listed hotel into a ten apartments together with a boutique hotel and the construction of a new 16-apartment building. Once work is complete on the project the two buildings will be collectively known as The Moorings.

Commenting on the project, Coastal Homes Construction Director, Steve Ratcliffe, said: “The Deganwy Castle Hotel is an important listed building in a unique setting in Deganwy. Since its Victorian heyday, it has been a focal point of the community and a landmark tourist destination. We are confident that the new development will re-establish the hotel’s role as an important part of Deganwy for years to come.” And finally, a £6.5 million project to bring a brand new SEA LIFE aquarium attraction to Manchester’s Trafford Centre continues to make good progress. Operated by Merlin, the new attraction will be installed into a 36,000 sq ft site in the centre’s Barton Square, next to Merlin’s popular LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre.

Set to open in June 2013, the aquarium will be the 14th SEA LIFE attraction in the UK and will feature over 5,000 creatures, 30 spectacular marine displays and an underwater ocean tunnel. Now with all this and much more, join us as we celebrate the developments that continue to shape our landscape.
