GE Oil & Gas powers up

Leading technologies and services provider GE Oil & Gas is extending its current facilities to create more factory space.

The one-storey facility – based at Brent Avenue, Montrose – is being extended onto a piece of land adjacent to the current building and once complete will almost double the original size of the facility. The 4636 sq metre extension will include a double span roof and will be finished in materials that are in keeping with the existing facility.

The new extension will include casement steel framed windows, profiled metal cladding and facing blockwork. Additional site works include the installation of a linked mains supply, and some hard and soft landscaping.

In addition to the extension, a replacement oil storage and special waste building – measuring 40m x 10m) – is being installed along the eastern boundary of the site. Concrete hard standing and boundary fencing that exists around the current footprint of the facility will be continued around the new extension.

No additional parking provisions are being created as a result of the new extension as the site already benefits from ample parking. When GE Oil & Gas Limited applied for planning permission for the project the company submitted a Transport Statement, at the request of the Head of Roads, stating that the new extension requires no additional parking provisions.

Work began on the project in June 2012 and is currently scheduled to reach completion in June 2013. Delson Contracts Ltd is the main contractor on the project, whilst AB Roger & Young (Chartered Architects) is providing all architectural services.
