Neighbourhood eating and drinking on Pimlico Road

No 11 Pimlico Road- London

No 11 Pimlico Road is an all-day venue that provides its customers with a relaxed eating and drinking experience in a very prominent area of London.

The bar café opened in March 2013 to rave reviews and is the first site from Darwin & Wallace.

No 11 Pimlico Road boasts a fantastic menu, which includes such delicious dishes as spicy sausage & cannellini bean soup, pork shoulder & chorizo pie and steamed white wine mussels, in addition to a weekend brunch menu. However, should a quick drink be more up your street the wine list is extensive and includes a fine selection of red, white, rose and dessert wines.

Darwin and Wallace Company Owner, Mel Marriott, said:

“Getting this site off the ground has been very important to us. Our aim for No 11 Pimlico Road was to meet all of our goals, satisfy our customers and also get a good feel for everything that works about the site. We are off to a good start and we have created a modern, all-day bar cafe just how we wanted.

“No 11 Pimlico Road is very flexible, so some customers feel comfortable coming here for drinks, whilst others come here specifically for food. It’s also the perfect destination for those who want brunch on the weekend or for those who want to enjoy a few drinks on a Sunday afternoon.”

French Interiors was the main contractor on No 11 Pimlico Road, whilst London-based interior and architectural agency Fusion Design & Architecture provided all architectural services.

Commenting on the project, Fusion Design and Architecture Company Partner, Sophie Douglas, said:

“No 11 Pimlico Road is a neighbourhood bar café, designed to cater for local residents and replaces a former pub which was previously housed on the site. The restaurant serves great food and drink throughout the day, so our brief for this project was to create an inviting environment which could match Darwin & Wallace’s vision for the site.

“One of the biggest challenges of the project was to replace the shop front in its entirety, which is something we needed to obtain planning permission for. No 11 Pimlico Road required a new shop front in order to make the site lighter and brighter and more in keeping with the style of the building.

“In terms of reworking the interior, we then pulled everything out, we pushed everything back, and then we created a more inviting space.”

No 11 Pimlico Road is divided into two floors, and includes a lobby, dining area and kitchen. All of the internal finishes on the site were designed to complement the food and include a good mix of natural timber, marble and painted surfaces.

“The new restaurant has been very well received and has had excellent feedback. No 11 Pimlico Road is the alternative to a gastro pub and offers customers something a little bit different.”
