CarVal Investors and development managers Canmoor have embarked on a major redevelopment of Interchange Croydon, the headquarters building at 81-85 Wellesley Road in Croydon formerly occupied by British Telecom.
Scheduled for completion towards the end of 2013, Interchange Croydon will offerĀ 182,000 sq ftĀ of comprehensively redeveloped office accommodation including new Cat A fit-out and new M&E throughout with top quality finishes.Ā In addition to the redevelopment works, a new triple-height 3,500 sq ft glass reception featuring a new fully glazed anodised faƧade has been added to the building.
The building is ideally located for access to both West and East Croydon stations and is within 100 metres of the Whitgift Centre, which forms part of a Ā£1bn retail-led redevelopment by Westfield and Hammerson. It will also benefit from the completion of Saffron Square, the residential development on the other side of Wellesley Road, which will provide a new public square and various restaurants and shops, and from significant public sector investment in the public realm in the centre of Croydon and to both the West and East Croydon stations.
Interchange will provide nine storeys above ground floor with flexible floor plates of ca. 18,000 sq ft, which will be able to accommodate requirements from 5,000 sq ft. A secure a multi storey car park providing a total of 418 secure spaces will be accessible directly from the building.
McLaren Construction is the main contractor on the development and according to its Project Manager, Rob Gordon work is progressing well. He said: āWorks started in November 2012 and are scheduled to reach completion in mid-November 2013. Roofing works have been carried out by Guaranteed Asphalt.
