North West

Give it some oompah-pah

Bierkeller- Manchester

Bierkeller is a brand new drinking and dining attraction which is quickly becoming the go-to destination for the North West.

To date, Bierkeller has four sites in its arsenal, including Blackpool, Leeds, Liverpool and its newest site in Manchester.

Each Bierkeller serves the finest German beers, offers the best Bavarian style menu and so much good old fashioned hospitality that venues are practically a home-away-from-home. An unmatched experience, Bierkeller mixes tradition with entertainment to create the perfect night out whether it is a special occasion or just a few drinks with friends.

Bierkeller Liverpool opened in November 2012 on Thomas Steers Way and has recently benefitted from the installation of a new external drinking area, which arrived just in time for the sunny weather. Meanwhile, Bierkeller Manchester is the latest site to open, making its debut in August in the city’s popular Printworks.

The Burning Night Group is the forward thinking company behind the Bierkeller brand. Discussing the Liverpool site, Area Manager for The Burning Night Group, Peter Robinson, said:

“Since we opened the Liverpool site we have put in an outside drinking area which has been great for the summer and we are now looking at opening up a Bierkeller shop which will sell associated merchandise.”

Bierkeller Liverpool replaced a former Italian restaurant which had laid empty for two years prior to its conversion. The 20,000 sq ft site proved to be the perfect location for Bierkeller, after a refurbishment which took place in just eight-weeks.

Peter commented:

“Although work was completed in such a short timeframe, this was quite a big project for us. The site was effectively a shell with a big open space, so we installed walls to section off areas and then we incorporated three bars.”

Work on Bierkeller Liverpool was completed in-house and despite a few challenges, ran on programme to open as planned.

“From the moment we opened in Liverpool we were busy, which is great from a business point of view, but certainly didn’t help my stress levels,” joked Peter. He added: “The feedback for Bierkeller Liverpool continues to be brilliant, so we are very pleased with how well it is doing.”

Bierkeller Liverpool has a fantastic programme of events on weekends, with a live Oompah band on Fridays and Saturdays, accompanied by traditional Bavarian cuisine and a selection of German beers. Meanwhile, Happy Hour – surely the best time of the day – takes place between 4pm and 7pm Tuesday to Friday.

With the Liverpool site going from strength-to-strength, The Burning Night Group set its sights on bringing the Bierkeller experience to Manchester. The ideal spot was located in the Printworks, where it is surrounded by a selection of eateries and bars, just opposite a 20-screen ODEON cinema.

Taking over from Pure nightclub, Bierkeller Manchester includes a reception bar, as well as the three distinct main bars: Bierkeller, Around the World and Shooters. Quantum Building Services was the main contractor on Bierkeller Manchester.

As well as an extensive list of drinks on offer at Bierkeller venues, including the Flensburger Tabletop Keggie (a 22 pint keg), Bierkeller has an equally impressive menu, offering snacks, sandwiches and burgers. Dishes include bratwurstplatte mit pommes undbrotchen (bratwurst with fries and a bread roll to me and you), zwei bratwurst (two grilled bratwurst with sourcrout and mash) and the U-boat (meatballs in a foot long sub with house fries).

For those with a sweet tooth, Bierkeller also serves up a belly busting selection of desserts, including apfelstrudel, schwarzwalder eisbecher and fudge cake.

With both sites – plus the Leeds and Blackpool venues – showcasing what the Bierkeller brand has to offer, the second half of 2013 looks set to be another good year for The Burning Night Group.

Peter commented: “With the students returning at the beginning of September we are preparing ourselves for an increase in customers following the summer, and with Oktoberfest and Christmas on the horizon we have quite a lot going on until the end of the year.”
