Famed for their pizzas, Baffito’s have opened another stylish venue in the North West. Created at the former site of The Waterfront pub on Navigation Way, Preston Marina the design has been inspired by all things Italian.
Director of Baffito’s Peter Thompson said, “When we saw the marina side site we knew it would be the perfect addition to our growing business.”
Award winning design studio R2 Architecture were commissioned to completely overhaul the marina side site, with a brief to weave the vibrant personality of the Baffito’s brand into the fabric of the building.
“Through the interior, we set out to capture the gregarious public life of an Italian family”, says R2 Architecture’s director Richard Eastwood. “Hence the decision to divide the space up into a range of clearly defined zones, each with their own character and sense of place.”
The contemporary restaurant mixes farmhouse-style furniture with bright colours, laid out on a natural oak floor. The imposing stone hearth oven provides a focal point in the open theatre kitchen where diners can see their food being freshly prepared. The large-scale hand drawn illustrations on the walls and ceilings tell the Baffito’s brand story in the style of inner-city graffiti from Naples.
The restaurant also has a discrete private dining room for small functions or business meetings and there is a laid back coffee lounge area that has customised red leather armchairs and Chesterfield sofas.
The development benefits from a separate bar area, named Frank’s Bar which offers everything from light meals to cocktails and real ale. The bar offers a distinct experience to that of the restaurant, aimed at informal socialising, with a sporting focus.
HD screens populate the area and the owners hope to continue the success of Baffito’s Warrington, which has recently won a prestigious Sky Sports Ultimate Venue award, naming it the best place to watch sport in the region.
“The zoning means you will find somewhere to enjoy a romantic dinner for two, a meal with mates, a party, or even a lads or girls evening. Some of our customers choose to eat, other just want a good night out in a sophisticated bar”, says Baffito’s Director Peter Thompson.
Baffito’s sumptuous menu offers diners a range of flat breads and pizzas, from the famous ‘Alessia’s Buffela Campania Pizza’ which is a delicious combination of Mozzarella cheese, special sauce and fresh basil to the classic pepperoni pizza.
A range of mouth-watering pastas are also on offer and for those looking for a lighter option there is an assortment of salads, from chicken and avocado to the well loved chicken Caesar salad.
Earlier this month the restaurant played host to the Warrington Wolves and Stefan Ratchford wasn’t shy in giving the venue his vote of confidence, he said: “I was really impressed with the decor and the food was first class. I like how you can just call in for a coffee and with WiFi available too it’s a bonus”.
Wolves star, Lee Briers added: “The place is smart and the staff were really friendly, all the lads really enjoyed the food and we look forward to going back.”
