With summer now here, Archer Street has taken advantage of the lighter evenings by transforming its downstairs bar into a polo-inspired lounge called Chukka!
Upon entry, guests will feel as if they have walked straight into the pages of a Jilly Cooper novel as they delve into a chic equestrian haven. Quirky design features include an astro-turf bar, mallets and horse shoes decorating the walls, perfectly complementing Archer Street’s playful stripy sofas and cushions.
Regardless of the weather outside, Chukka promises to transport its guests into a summer meadow, where the champagne is flowing and the music plays until dawn. The venue includes a bespoke cocktail menu, fit for a polo champion and in keeping with the theme, a partnership has been struck with England Polo International player, George Meyrick, which has resulted in one of the intimate alcoves being endorsed and branded by the sports star himself.
To celebrate their partnership with top polo player, George Meyrick, Chukka have created a special, tantalising sharing cocktail; The Meyrick’s Fizz Punch. Made with Ketel One Vodka, passionfruit, raspberries and rose liqueur topped with Billecart-Salmon Brut Reserve this is perfect way to ensure that the celebrations get off with a bang.
Rounding out the rest of the field are drinks such as, The Chukka, a twist on a classic Mojito churning Hendrick’s Gin and Pimm’s with fresh mint and lime, a dash of sugar topped with ginger ale; and Hooves on Fire, made with Jose Cuervo Tradicional, shaken with fresh red chilli, Limoncello, passion fruit and balanced with vanilla syrup.
All drinks are served by staff kitted out in specially created polo shirts, supplied by Polo lifestyle company, Polistas. No summer season is complete without bubbles, so Chukka also serves the finest fizz from London’s first exclusive Billecart-Salmon Champagne bar.
Chukka includes nightly entertainment, with resident DJ’s spinning the decks and regular pop-up performances from the talented team.
Those keen on horsing around this summer should head to Chukka at Archer Street, which is open Thursday through Saturday, until 1am.
