Gimme, gimme, gimme Honky Tonk

Honky Tonk- Clapham

This autumn a little slice of the big apple will arrive in Clapham in the form of Honky Tonk. Following on from the success of Honky Tonk Chelsea, the venue will offer an American-inspired restaurant, late night bar, and live performances.

Honky Tonk is the brainchild of Mark Cutler, one of the founders of Notting Hill institution, Supperclub London and has become West London’s destination diner of choice. There will be regular live music and entertainment, with a particular emphasis on a variation of the blues, jazz and rockabilly played over a hundred years ago when the first honky tonks sprung up in the United States. With a late licence until 2am at weekends, Honky Tonk promises to truly keep Clapham rocking until dawn.

Honky Tonk Clapham will be located in the heart of Clapham and will offer al fresco seating overlooking the common. The light and airy venue will house over 150 covers with separate restaurant, bar and private dining areas, as well as a stage for musicians to play from every night. The décor will feature worn brown leather banquette seating, vintage rock ‘n’ roll music posters, old Elvis films projected on a large screen, and mismatched wooden tables and upholstered chairs.

Other quirky design elements will include, hand-drawn black and white polka dot wallpaper, a rusty 1950s concertina lift door, exposed filament lightbulbs, and floating balloon-inspired lights.

Diners will enjoy all-American dishes with touches of Italian and also deli-inspired food with many small plates served alongside larger ones. Diner favourites such as beef or pork bibs, mac ‘n’ cheese with Porcini Béchamel and Brisket Roll will be served alongside smaller dishes such as meatballs, Welsh rarebit with black truffle, crab cakes and cobb salad. There will be private dining opportunities for up to 30, which guests will access through a ‘secret’ wardrobe door, and even a private table located behind the stage where guests will be able to spin an oversized Wheel of Fortune to win prizes every evening.

Honky Tonk is a collaboration between Mark and creative bar and restaurant consultants, The Cocktail Service. Overseen by their talented team, Honky Tonk offers the perfect range of aged-in-the-barrel cocktails. The bar stocks a diverse selection of bourbons, as well as innovative drinks that cannot fail to astonish and delight, including the Pickleback shot made with Buffalo Trace Bourbon and pickle brine, the aged-in-barrel Sazerac and the unique and delicious Maple Trace.

Honky Tonk will be open Monday-Wednesday 5 pm to 12 pm, Thurs 5pm -1am, Friday 5pm-1.30 am, Sat 12pm- 2am and Sunday12pm-11.30pm.
