Danieli Holdings have added 32 bedrooms to their stylish student accommodation at Barker House, Newcastle.

The addition comes after retail space was freed up for development on the ground floor – meaning a total of 137 rooms are now on offer.

All bedrooms offer en suite and each apartment has a contemporary open plan kitchen/living space with flat screen TV, leather sofas, washer/dryer, large fridge and separate large freezer.

At a cost of £6.95 million Barker House is a key development for Danieli Holdings, who started construction onsite in January 2011. The building was handed over to Newcastle University in September 2012 on a five year lease.

Neil Winch, Chief Executive of the Danieli Group, said: “It’s been a lengthy project and we’re delighted to have completed the build on time and successfully handed the building over to Newcastle University and its students.

“We’re very proud to be working with Newcastle University and look forward to developing the relationship over the next five years and beyond.

“This is an exciting project for us and is a high quality development in an area that’s undergone significant investment in recent years. It’s a great addition to our diversifying portfolio as the firm continues to grow. We have ambitions to grow across the North of England.”

Vivienne Robinson, Newcastle University’s accommodation services manager explains: “We’re very happy to add this property to our portfolio. It’s a first class facility very close to the city centre and will house a mix of returning students and new postgraduates.

“We will be managing the facility and it adds to the diversity of the properties we manage on behalf of our students across the city and the surrounding areas.

“Newcastle University is continuing to grow and attract new students from all over the world and it is important we have a range of high quality facilities and locations available for our students.”

Neil was keen to express his delight at the work carried out by Koru Property Services on the recent addition of 32 bedrooms. He said: “The contractor did a fantastic job.”

The Danieli Group is headquartered in Newcastle and includes Northridge Healthcare, Phoenix Security, Phoenix Eye, Education and Training Services, Student Accommodation UK and Danieli Propery Investments. It employs nearly 1,000 people in the UK.
