28 ̊-50 ̊ Wine Workshop and Kitchen

28-50 Mayfair- Maddox Street

The delightful and swanky streets of Mayfair now house the latest 28 ̊-50 ̊ Wine Workshop and Kitchen, after its launch this month.

This latest West End addition, situated on Maddox Street, marks the third 28 ̊-50 ̊ with previous ventures on Fetter Lane and Marleybone. Restaurateur duo Agnar Sverisson and Xavier Rousset MS have built upon their previous successes, and have taking their passion and expertise in quality dining to this latest venture for London.

Located in a former office block the site had taken eight weeks to be transformed into the unique and charming bar and restaurant. The restaurant is situated over two floors with the facilities to cater for 100 guests at any one time. The front and rear of the restaurant also offers a terraced area, allowing guests to enjoy their 28 ̊-50 ̊ experience al fresco.

The latest 28 ̊-50 ̊ bar and restaurant oozes an informal, relaxed and friendly vibe whilst taking great pride in providing its guests with a choice of over 30 great wines, exquisite French bistro style food and fantastic quality service.

Agnar and Xavier are certainly no strangers to success. In addition to their 28 ̊-50 ̊ ventures they are the proud owners of the Michelin-starred, Scandinavian-influenced restaurant Texture, located on the border of Mayfair/Marylebone.

Speaking about this latest venture co-founder of 28 ̊- 50, ̊ Xavier Rousset, explained:

“We are passionate about wine and about providing our guests with a diverse range of fine quality wine. We will have numerous whites and reds available by the glass. We will in addition to this have fine wine available which is from a collector’s list.”

The launch in this upmarket area of London has resulted in some unique additions for the chain. The main feature, the first of its kind to any 28 ̊-50 ̊ restaurant, being a champagne bar on the ground floor serving between 40-50 champagnes, ensuring all guests preferences are catered for. This smart and sophisticated bar is accompanied by a seafood counter offering a range of quality and mouth wateringly good dishes.

The lower floor features the restaurant’s open kitchen and adjacent dining area which hosts the impressive 28 ̊- 50 ̊hallmark wine display and a 3m x 2m temperature controlled wine fridge. This floor also provides guests with the option of a private dining room, available to hire for group bookings, if you are looking for a more personal and exclusive experience.

An eye-catching feature of this restaurant is situated above the bar area, which at first glance appears to be a large, glistening chandelier style fixture. However on closer inspection you can see it is in fact upside down hanging glassware, a quirky touch, cleverly and artistically incorporating the restaurant’s passion for wine.

The main contractors assigned to the restaurateurs latest project were WFC, the leisure industry specialist and award winning fit-out contractor, who specialise in delivering high quality services. Necessary structural work was minimal as the existing building had been maintained to a good standard and remained in pleasing condition; the essential alterations needed were mainly aesthetic.

Speaking about the redevelopment Xavier Rousset, said: “Overall the whole process of creating our new restaurant ran smoothly. This is the second time we have worked alongside the contractors WFC and yet again we have been extremely impressed with them. They have been pretty amazing and have produced a high quality finish.”

Architects on this project were B3 Designers, an independently owned commercial catering design company.

Speaking about the overall meaning of this project Xavier Rousset, summarised:

“It is always very exciting to have a new restaurant opening. Personally, as me and Agnar came up with the whole idea and concept of this, it is about looking forward to seeing how well this restaurant is received by the public. We felt there was a gap in the market for a restaurant of this style in Mayfair and subsequently we feel that this latest 28 ̊-50 ̊Wine Workshop and Kitchen will be successful.”

It seems that dependent on 28 ̊-50 ̊Wine Workshop and Kitchen’s reception and feedback, this unique chain will continue to expand through the capital. It is evident that this latest addition has all the essential ingredients needed to be the latest success story for Agnar and Xavier, providing an individual and quality dining experience in the heart of Mayfair.
