Astonishing installation from Rotafix

Astonishing installation- Endless Stair

Rotafix are pleased to announce their involvement in The London Design Festival, Endless Stair, a visually and architecturally astonishing installation and one of the highlights of this September’s London Design Festival.

The installation is currently on display on the lawn in front of the world-renowned Tate Modern from 13 September – 10 October 2013.

The Endless Stair is the second hardwood structure that AHEC (American Hardwood Export Council) has commissioned for the London Design Festival in collaboration with Arup.

Rotafix supported the manufacturer Imola Legno of Italy with technical support and training in the use of Rotafix Lamset epoxy adhesive. Rotafix Lamset was chosen for its flexibility, strength, penetration in hardwood, ease of application and suitability for outdoor use in a structural project.

Cross-laminated timber is an increasingly popular construction material. It is normally made from softwood. This pioneering use of hardwood cross-laminated timber reduces the amount of material needed and the thickness of the elements with its excellent structural properties.

There is a total of 11.4 tonnes of American tulipwood used in the Endless Stair. The total length of all the panels in the endless stairs is 436m.

Well done to everyone involved in creating this innovative and stunning exhibition of what is possible with the right materials.
