Salvation in Bellshill

Bellshill Salvation Army, Gladstone Street, Bellshill

Situated on Gladstone Street, Bellshill Salvation Army Hall is open seven days a week, providing a range of services, from parent and toddler groups to lunch clubs, band practice and youth groups.

Since opening, the building has allowed the Salvation Army to provide improved services for its growing number of members throughout the town of Bellshill.

Waterside Developments Ltd was the main contractor on the renovation at Bellshill, whilst Lawrence McPherson Associates provided architectural services. Set up in 1999, Waterside Developments Ltd provides services to a variety of schemes, from private housing developments to schools and doctor’s surgeries.

The Bellshill building plays an important part in developing The Salvation Army’s church and community partnership and is part of a long term strategic vision for The Salvation Army’s West Scotland Division. As The Salvation Army continues to grow, projects such as Bellshill will continue to provide the church with improved services, allowing them to reach out further into communities.

Additional projects under The Salvation Army’s strategy include projects for Glasgow City Centre and the renovation of Ayr Salvation Army’s building in John’s Street, which successfully opened in April 2013.

To commemorate the opening of the John’s Street building, Ayr Salvation Army ran a series of events which included a visit from Fiona Hyslop, the Scottish Government’s Cabinet Secretary for Culture and External Affairs. A worship service and an open day also took place as part of the events, with special guests Lt Col Ivor and Carol Telfer representing the UK leadership of The Salvation Army.

The Salvation Army is a worldwide Christian church and registered charity, working in 126 countries and offering unconditional friendship to people of all ages. The Salvation Army was founded in East London in 1865 by William Booth and today has 50,000 members, 4,000 employees and 1,500 Salvation Army officers working throughout the UK and Ireland.

The Salvation Army plays an important role within local communities, offering help to the homeless, friendless and those in need. The charity invites people from all walks of life to get involved, through fundraising schemes and volunteering, and continues to grow with a diverse mix of people attended worship services every Sunday.
