Trishna revamped!

Trishna restaurant, Marleybone Village, London

Trishna restaurant, situated in Marleybone Village in London city centre, has undergone a month long transformation project, with the aim of introducing more Indian influences into the venue’s design.

The Indian restaurant was originally opened in 2008 by the Sethi Family and following the success of their latest venture, Gymkhana, the family decided to revitalise Trishna in line with their sister venue.

B3 Designers and main contractors, space tailors worked together to realise the Sethi family’s vision and introduce more of an Indian vibe to the venue. The one storey venue closed down in January 2014 and works were completed in just over a month.

The original pale blue timber paneling and exposed brickwork in the venue has been enriched, as has the reception area. The team has introduced rich dark oak paneling and panes of antique mirrors to the walls. Written letters, vintage postcards, old Indian stamps and matchbox postcards from India adorn the walls and have been concealed beneath the paneled glass wall coverings.

The venue boasts a private dining space to the rear of the restaurant which has undergone a facelift as part of the project. Dimly lit antique brass pendants and brass wall sconces decorate the walls and impressive rich grey velvet banquettes & Carrera marble tabletops are dotted throughout the room.

In the basement of the restaurant another private dining space can be found. The space seats up to ten diners and contains a large rich, dark teak table and dark oak reclaimed timber paneling.

The space also boasts a dramatic full height glazed window which offers views of the atmospherically lit wine cellar in the adjacent room. A cast iron fireplace containing three large traditional church candles in varying heights also acts as a main feature of the impressive private space.

Premier Hospitality caught up with project architects B3 Designers who have been involved with Trishna from its inception in 2008. Mark Bithrey, Managing Director of B3 Designers, said:

“This is our fourth project with the Sethi brother’s and Family; we are thrilled to be working in close collaboration with such visionary clients. One of the biggest challenges was creating a defined and impactful shop front on Albermarle Street, particularly with it being in Westminster, as we had limited space.

“We were able to do this by creating a strong brand identity as well as a simple and striking colour pallet, which created a distinct shop front. It was great to have our interior and brand team working in close collaboration on aspects like this.”

Mark added that it had been a pleasure to continue working with the Sethi brothers on this project:

“It’s a lovely contribution to our continuous relationship with the Sethi family. We value the relationship B3 Designer has with the family, they are great clients and we work very well together.

“The space was exceptionally beautiful before the renovation project and the cuisine is amazing, but now the venue ties in beautifully with the brand they are building and it has made a difference to the overall aesthetics.”
