Milbank has a rich and varied history which began in 1947 in Chelmsford, Essex when owner, Geoffrey, began manufacturing precast flooring products to his own design. In 1952 the tradesman started manufacturing prestressed, inverted Channel, Beam and Pot concrete floors. In the following 10 years prestressed precast concrete agricultural frame buildings were added to the product range.
John Milbank took over the running of the business following his father’s death and shortly afterwards the team begin to manufacture precast concrete stairs and 150mm deep Beam and Block floors for ground floors for houses.
The company has continued to expand and diversify over the years; building a new factory in 1985 in Colchester and extending their product range to include 180mm Beam and Pot upper floors for separating floors in flats. In 1996 the firm continued to grow and a new building was erected for the manufacture of bespoke precast products; stairs, landings, ground beams and Montex car park slabs
Another 40 acre factory site was established in 2000 at Brandon, Suffolk and the product range was extended to include 320 and 400mm deep Hollowcore, precast concrete wall panels, concrete columns and beams for multi-storey car parks.
2008 saw the Credit Crunch hit the UK Construction Industry, and the company was reorganised. Trading as Milbank and operating only from the Earls Colne Site, the tradition of providing practical, cost effective precast concrete solutions was maintained by a Management team consisting of Sean Milbank, Andrew Mayne, and David Costin.
Despite various challenges over the years the company have continued to trade and pride themselves if their high quality service.
