One of the most iconic historical buildings in Liverpool, which has remained unused for the past 10 years, has been given a new lease of life as a luxury hotel.
The former headquarters of the White Star Line – one of the world’s biggest shipping lines most well-known as owners of the ill-fated Titanic liner – on James Street in Liverpool has become an 11 storey luxury hotel. Bought by Signature Living, 30 St James Street accommodates up to 310 guests and retains much of the building’s historical character.
With the help of historian Paul Louden-Brown and after months of research Lawrence and Katie Kenwright, the duo behind Signature Living, have combined the history of the building with elements of construction and design to ensure that every area of 30 James Street takes guests on a journey
Each of the 65 rooms has been painstakingly restored so that they represent a different part of the White Star Line’s history or that of the period and times associated with the era. Each bedroom will tell its own unique story for guests to explore and discover, from well-known stories, such as that of the Titanic, to those which have remained hidden for decades.
It’s not just its heritage, which sets 30 James Street apart from the crowd; it is its unique sense of style and luxury synonymous with the Signature Living brand. Guests can take advantage of designer finishes and features such as the largest double bed in the city at 15ft wide within the bridal suite and Jacuzzi baths in each room as well as a first class personal concierge service.
The venue also includes a bar and restaurant called the Carpathia Champagne Bar & Restaurant, named after the ship which became the safe haven for the 700 lives saved from the Titanic. The restaurant caters for up to 120 covers, serving a selection of European and local dishes within its opulent décor taking advantage of the glorious views over Liverpool’s incredible waterfront and iconic buildings.
The bar area with two 100 foot balconies wrapping around the roof of the building, is the perfect place to relax and enjoy a glass of champagne or a cocktail, whilst looking out across some of Liverpool’s finest views.
30 James Street is also home to one of Liverpool’s most stunning wedding venues. The White Star Grand Hall, which was once the building’s first class ticketing lounge, has been restored especially for weddings, accommodating up to 220 guests.
Brides and Grooms will be able to take advantage of the luxurious wedding suite and will have access their own personal wedding planner who will be on hand to ensure that every aspect of the couple’s big day is taken care of, ensuring a wedding day to remember in 30 James Street.
There is also a spa area for guests to relax during their stay, featuring a spa swimming pool, sauna and steam room. As well as being a superb location for both short and long term stays, 30 James Street is the ideal location for events, business or pleasure and is just a 15 minute walk from the ACC Liverpool and the Liverpool Echo Arena.
Wedding packages start from £45 per person and room prices from £99 with a selection of two bed to five bed suites sleeping up to 10 persons The first phase of 30 James Street launched in April 2014 with the Carpathia Champagne Bar & Restaurant and two hotel floors. The remaining floors as well as the spa area will be completed by September 2014.
