Clugston Construction

The Clugston Group is a privately owned group of businesses founded over 75 years ago.

Based in Humberside the company was formed by LG Clugston, the father of the present chairman, John Clugston. The Group has expanded since its inception to become a well established organisation with a leading reputation in construction, civil engineering, logistics, property development and facilities management. The company employs over 500 people with operations stretching across the UK.

The firm has a rich and varied past; their core activities today stem from their initial involvement with the iron and steel industry in the 1930’s. Three quarters of a century later the Clugston Group celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2012 and held many events to celebrate this significant corporate milestone. The firm set the challenge of raising £75,000 for a number of regional charities. In this way they were able to leave a small legacy from the year to benefit local communities. Events included the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, a 38 mile cycle ride from Lincoln to Boston, a 12 kilometre walk, a 10 kilometre swim at Ponds Forge Sheffield (a project that Clugston was heavily involved in constructing) and a Three Day Series of Dinners & Lunches.

Aside from their charitable ethos the firm is also a successful construction company. Clugston is split over four divisions; Construction, Logistics, Property and Facilities Management. Clugston’s construction arm are proud of continually delivering a professional and responsive service in Building & Civils, Repair, Maintenance & Fit Out and Survey Services.

Clugston Logistics, or Clugston Distribution Services, is a member of the Clugston Group and forms a privately owned Construction, Logistics and Property company which came into existence in the 1930’s. Clugston Distribution Services currently employs over 130 personnel and operates a fleet of over 90 vehicles. This branch of the business is doing exceptionally well and has turned over in excess of £11 million.

Clugston Developments Limited and Clugston Estates Limited are the property division of Clugston Group. The development team has considerable experience in a wide range of commercial development projects which have all been backed by the financial resources and construction and management skills available within the Group.

The final division of the Group is Clugston Facilities Management which provides facilities management and outsourcing solutions to owners and users of a wide range of premises and facilities. The team manages and adds value to their clients’ support services enabling them to focus on their core activities and help to enhance their business performance.

Clugston FM offers tailored solutions to improve firm’s service standards and value for money. They are a very ambitious team and fully believe that a great service does not have to cost more. The Group has worked for an array of well known clients including Lafarge, Northern Foods, Morrison’s, Renault Trucks, Vivergo Fuels, NCP, TATA, City of York Council and The University of York.
