Dear readers,

Welcome to the latest edition of Premier Construction magazine.

This month we take a look at the Queensferry Crossing project; we explore Beast and its weird and wonderful offerings, as well as finding out all about the ongoing works at Piran Meadows Resort & Spa.

The Queensferry Crossing – formerly known as the Forth Replacement Crossing – is a major ongoing infrastructure project currently taking place in Scotland. The scheme has been designed to replace the current Forth Road Bridge as the main crossing point for cross-Forth traffic and is currently running as scheduled.

The bridge was opened in 1964 by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and has since provided a major improvement to the Scottish transport network. Unfortunately, despite significant investment and maintenance over its lifetime, the bridge was showing signs of deterioration and was deemed no longer suitable in the long-term as the main crossing over the Firth of Forth. Works are running smoothly thus far and the project is due to reach completion in 2016.

Beast is a brand new venture from leading restaurant specialists the Goodman Restaurant Group. In this issue we will find out more about the venue which serves up a tempting menu of the finest available king crab from the Norwegian Arctic Circle and 2 kilo cuts of steak. Whilst dining, guests are surrounded by dramatically lit tanks housing the live king crabs, fridges with large cuts of steak, wine cellars and an open kitchen.

Darwin Holiday & Leisure Resorts have made it their aim to create a premium holiday destination; now entitled Piran Meadows Resort & Spa. The site is undergoing a complete redevelopment whereby all of the 75 tenting and touring pitches will be removed and a new central facilities building will be constructed comprising state of the art leisure facilities for guests. The facility will be unveiled in time for the 2014 summer season.

With all this and more, join us as we continue to explore the beautiful developments that shape our landscape.
