Recognition for Pentre Felin

LABC Awards Jeremy White

Llanmoor Homes employee Jeremy White has recently won the Best Site Supervisor/Site Agent of the Year category at the LABC South Wales Awards ceremony for his exemplary work on the Pentre Felin Tondu development.

The project has seen the construction of an array of new two, three and four bed semi and detached homes over a multi phased development scheme.

Jeremy White has acted as the Site Manager on the Pentre Felin project which so far has seen the construction of 87 units, which will be sold under the Llanmoor banner. Llanmoor plan to build 185 units and aim to complete all of the properties within the next 3 to 4 years; the construction of the units has been undertaken via a multi phased development so far and will continue under this structure.

Llanmoor act as their own main contractor and so manage all of the sub contractors on site; they therefore do not have to hire a specific main construction contractor.

Initially the on site team had to remediate the ground which included excavating and rolling back in layers the med stones in order to carry out plate tests. This allowed the team to ascertain correct ground bearings for the rafts to fit on.

When Llanmoor first bought the site the ground still contained the remnants of a brickworks which was used in the 1800’s up to the 1940s, so this had to be removed. The team also carried out major road works around the entrance of the site, installed traffic lights and built a waste transfer site for the local authority.

Most of the houses on the site consist of a ground floor and first floor, however there were a few town houses (now sold) which comprise three levels. Llanmoor also undertakes the interior fit out of the properties including the installation of the sanitaryware, kitchen units, tiling and in many cases carpets throughout the property and floor vinyls. The houses are also all decorated and presented well to potential future buyers.

LABC Awards Jeremy White

Jeremy White said:

“It is an honour to win the LABC Award as I didn’t expect it. It is a great privilege to win it and it is great for the company as well as the team on site. I would like to especially thank Dave Todd Jones and Paul Joseph and everybody at Bridgend building control for their guidance in helping us build good quality homes to the correct building regulation.

The properties on the site are extremely well placed and have retail facilities right on the doorstep. The M4 is also close by offering great transport links for those wishing to travel to Swansea or Cardiff; despite its proximity to the motorway the site manages to create a semi-rural setting.

The site originally was a coal mining village back in the late 18th century, before converting into an iron works and then subsequently a brick works. The last remnants of these industrial sites were decommissioned in 1977 leaving a very popular local heritage centre and museum nearby. Now the site is a popular location for commuters working in Bridgend, Cardiff and even Swansea; as a result there is increasing demand for quality homes. Pentre Felin is currently Llanmoor Homes’ best selling new home development, whilst forward enquiries for later sales releases remain very strong.
