Middleton Steak House, Milton Keynes

Milton Keynes city centre has seen the grand opening of a third restaurant for the successful Middletons brand.

Middletons Steakhouse and Grill opened on Midsummer Boulevard in March and has since been a raging success, following in the footsteps of the company’s other two restaurants.

After setting up home in Norwich, Kings Lynn and now Milton Keynes, Middletons Steakhouse and Grill are broadening their horizons with a new restaurant planned in the east of England for the end of summer and plans to open a branch in Leicester.

The Milton Keynes project began in February last year and took 13 months to complete. The venue had been empty for two years previously, and prior to that operated as a Chinese restaurant. The main contractor for the project was ECSEC.

Steve Hutton, Managing Director of Middletons Steakhouse and Grill said:

“We chose Milton Keynes for our next restaurant because it’s one of the fastest growing places in the United Kingdom. It’s the largest commuter town in the United Kingdom and has one of the highest tourist attraction numbers in the country. The restaurant is situated in the best destination for dining in Milton Keynes.”

Located within metres of Milton Keynes’ restaurants hub, on the ground floor of a glass fronted office block, Middletons Steakhouse and Grill offers up to 160 covers at any one time, with all diners able to enjoy Middleton’s fresh take on contemporary American dining; something new and unique for the town to enjoy.

The design of the restaurant takes inspiration from New York. Middletons commissioned designLSM for the interior design of the restaurant. designLSM’s managing director Steve La Bouchardiere told us:

“In the restaurant we stripped the ceiling back to the original structure and blacked it out, providing a dramatic back drop to the space. Stretched canvas awnings, theatrical spotlights and pendants soften this effect. Warm oak flooring runs through the dining area, whilst concrete patterned tiles designate the bar area. The patterned theme continues throughout with bespoke geometric wall art and blackened steel screen dividers. Since opening the restaurant has received brilliant reviews and we’re delighted to contribute to Middletons ongoing success.”

Middletons Steakhouse and Grill caters for all appetites, events and dining experiences. The restaurant caters for small parties as well as large families, offering excellent service and delicious dishes to sample. Serving a delicious mix of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes, the menu boasts sirloin, rib-eye and fillet steaks, as well as 14 mixed grill options; everything from a surf ‘n’ turf to a steak ‘n’ spice. The fish menu offers lobster, scampi, haddock and salmon, as well as a fish of the day choice.

In addition to the restaurant’s main speciality, pasta dishes such as macaroni cheese, lasagne and cannelloni are also on offer, as well as salads including steak and blue cheese, poached salmon, chicken Caesar or goats cheese.

Lunch time diners can enjoy well priced deals with offers for one course for £6.95, two for £8.95 and three for £9.95. There is also a glass of wine on offer for only £2.00 additional charge.

Starters and desserts are available at reasonable prices. Customers can enjoy the appetising offerings including crayfish cocktail, chicken liver pate or baked mushrooms. For dessert, chocolate fudge cake, brownies, treacle tart, Eton mess and cheesecake are on offer to complete the meal.

The children’s menu presents two courses for £4.95. Options include pasta, a burger, fish and chicken nuggets. All children’s meals include dessert options of brownies, Eton mess or ice cream.

An impressive drinks menu consisting of wines, beer, cider, cocktails, mocktails and soft drinks accompanies the extensive food selection and is also available separately in the restaurant bar area.

Steve Hutton finished our interview saying:

“The restaurant is trading really well; the offer has been very well received. There’s nothing else like Middletons Steakhouse and Grill in Milton Keynes, so for us it’s been a good investment.”

The restaurant opening was beneficial to Milton Keynes in more ways than one, providing the town with 60 new jobs. This enables people to gain experience in management, catering, bar work and serving, whilst working in a new and exciting venue with good food and a great atmosphere. The restaurant is open Monday to Sunday from midday to 11pm.
