As part of the health and safety policy, all procedures cover the company employees, contractors and sub-contractors and they are responsible for complying with the legislation. The procedures are communicated through site inductions, tool box talks, site meetings, email and informal communications.
B & C have a Training Plan and Training Records kept on all of their employees which are reviewed on a regular basis. Competent and able trainers deliver relevant training to staff in order to develop their skills, and where possible FAS approved trainers, or trainers recognised by some other national or international body, are utilised.
B & C Contractors are currently in the midst of an ongoing housing project comprising 100 houses in Carrickmacross. Units being constructed include four bed semi-detached houses, three bed townhouses, three bed semi-detached houses and two bed apartments.
The firm use a selection of impressive plant equipment on site ranging from cranes, excavators, teleporters, JCB’s, lorries, transport vans, a large selection of shuttering, hoists, elevators and scaffolding. The company’s assortment of tools and paraphernalia allow them to carry out various construction tasks efficiently.
With a positively fruitful portfolio, the business has in recent years completed several projects including Linden Foods at Dungannon, comprising of an upgrade and extension of an old factory. This involved the restoration and fit out of an existing commercial building to construct a brand new meat distribution facility. B & C took on the role of main contractor during the project, which began in April 2010, and completed the development in December 2010.
Another project accomplished by B & C is the Monaghan Business Park, which encompassed the construction of retail and industrial park, with over 14,000m² of retail and industrial buildings. Similarly the company took on the proportion of the project 100% acting as main contractors, delivering a triumphant business park.
Other examples of successful projects include a selection of buildings in the leisure sector such as Flemings Shopping Centre, a three storey building set in Monaghan consisting of Supermarket, Off Licence, Electrical Shop, Restaurants, Toy Shop, lift shafts plus other units. Refurbishing St Davnets Hospital and the construction of conference rooms and bedrooms for Four Seasons Hotel, Monaghan are just two more examples of completed developments.
