Dear readers,

Welcome to the latest edition of Premier Construction magazine.

In this month’s Premier Construction we find out more about this year’s NHBC Pride in the Job Award winners, as well as explore the luxurious, Dorsett Shepherd’s Bush hotel. Readers can also take a look at the newly rebranded Holiday Inn London West which has recently undergone an extensive refurbishment.

In this edition we pay homage to sites across the UK which have been recognised by The National House Building Council. The NHBC are committed to promoting quality and as a result hosts its annual Pride in the Job Awards. This is a UK-wide competition dedicated to recognising site managers who achieve high standards in house building. NHBC Pride in the Job has been instrumental in driving the quality of new homes for more than 30 years and this year is no exception.

Leading developer Taylor Wimpey has done extremely well this year with many of their sites winning awards, alongside other developers such as Bellway Homes, Bovis Homes and Pennyfarthing Homes who have also been recognised for their quality sites.

Read on to find out more about the elegant Dorsett Shepherd’s Bush, a 317 room hotel, on Shepherd’s Bush Green. Works began on the project in March 2012 and reached completion in spring 2014. The new hotel replaces the former Shepherd’s Bush Pavilion which was built in 1923 and retains the original building’s Grade II Listed façade.

Works to rebrand the Ramada Encore London West Hotel to a Holiday Inn London-West have recently completed, wowing guests worldwide with its impressive new facilities and extensive expansion. The ÂŁ7 million, ten month initiative, has seen a four storey extension constructed, 75 bedrooms created, a seventh storey added to the original building, as well as all public spaces receiving a major refurbishment.

Works began on site in October 2013 and the team initially started with the new bedroom construction. This was followed with creating the open lobby which now showcases a new server area, a new bar and a contemporary reception area. The space also contains interesting artefacts which are scattered throughout, as well as a new media lounge and popup lounge which are ideal for small meetings and also for families to get together.

With all this and more, join us as we continue to explore the beautiful developments that shape our landscape.
