Ocean Point at Southbourne in Dorset is a collection of seven stunning private flats all situated within one block.
The development is three stories high, which includes three apartments on each, the ground and first floor, a penthouse on the top floor and an underground car park below.
Ocean Point was constructed by privately owned house builder, Pennyfarthing Homes and was completed during summer 2013. The development was designed to offer home owners an opportunity to either extend their current portfolio of properties or to purchase a brand new beachside retreat and has proved very popular since completion.
Keen to find out a little bit more about Ocean Point, Premier Construction recently caught up with Pennyfarthing Homes Site Manager Colin Bix to ask him about the development. Not only did Colin oversee all of the work on the construction of Ocean Point, but he also picked up an NHBC Pride in the Job Award too.
The Pride in the Job Award is Colin’s second NHBC Award and the eleventh won collectively by site managers at Pennyfarthing Homes. Following on from the recent award, Colin will now go on to compete in the next round of the competition to see whether he will be awarded a Seal of Excellence and/or win one of the Regional Award titles, which will be announced at the NHBC’s Pride in the Job regional events in the Autumn.
Speaking to Premier Construction, Colin said:
“Ocean Point was a very successful project for Pennyfathing Homes, with all of the flats sold by the end of 2013. There were a number of challenges on the project, including the weather and site restrictions and it did take a great deal of organisation to complete, but it was really worthwhile in the end.”
“I’ve worked in the building trade for ten years, beginning as a labourer before working my way up. In my fifth year I became a Site Manager, getting my own development and this is when I achieved my first Pride in the Job Award. Five years later I have achieved my second NHBC Pride in the Job Award for Ocean Point and this is just fantastic.”
Ocean Point is situated right on the seafront between Bournemouth and Christchurch and boasts uninterrupted views of the coastline. The development is easily accessible from the A338, is close to local amenities and a number of schools and is the perfect spot to relax and take in the scenery.
Ocean Point was built utilising a mix of concrete blocks, wide span, reinforced concrete and render, with seamless glass on the ground floor and balconies, and sits comfortably within its surroundings. Externally the building includes a grassed communal area and with the beach just a stone’s throw away, there’s much to explore at Ocean Point.
