Opened in April, Cartizze Bar in the heart of Mayfair is the latest design venture for Noble Russell.
The company were commissioned to manufacture all of the custom made furniture by the projects main architects, Fabled Studio.
In previous years, Fabled Studio worked with Noble Russell during the design of The Luggage Room and this current collaboration, on Cartizze, has proved to be another design success.
Paying homage to the Italian food and drink offerings, the interior of Cartizze is quietly understated and elegant, made up of a combination of dip-dyed oak panelling with classic egg and dart details, soft lilac and blue leathers and a Nero Marquina marble fireplace, as well as hummingbird inspired details and gradated brass accents on the bar. The theme is continued throughout the venue with glassware and cocktail shakers sourced from antique markets across London and Italy.
Noble Russell were commissioned by Fabled Studio to manufacture seating arrangements for the intimate 60 cover venue; this included the banquettes, lounge chairs and high and low stools all upholstered in a mixture of soft lilac and blue fine grade Italian leather. To compliment the seating, Noble Russell additionally produced the high and low tables topped with granite and edged with highly polished brass detail.
Noble Russell and Fabled Studio worked closely together throughout the design process of Cartizze, constructing prototypes and resolving design details to ensure that the original concept was retained. The completed furniture fulfils the brief, preserving the original design whilst providing high quality and functionality within the client’s budget.
Named after the prosecco vineyards in the heights of Northern Italy, the finished interior of the bar, which claims itself as ‘an intimate, Italian influenced Bellini and cocktail destination in a sumptuous art deco setting’, works as a stylish addition to the eclectic collection of venues along Lancashire Court in Mayfair.
Cartizze boasts an extensive menu of drinks and aperitivos. Cocktails include classic Italian styles; Barrel Aged Offerings and the Connoisseur’s Collection; a privately sourced selection of spirits dating back to the 1800s. Other options include spirits, beer, malts, wine and champagne.
The venue is made up of two rooms connected by a narrow passage. The passage is a space filled with lockers which Cartizze suggests is a place for customers to store their favourite liquors from the Locker List and The Connoisseur’s Collection.
The cocktail list was developed by Richard Woods, who was this year’s UK winner of the ‘World’s Most Imaginative Bartender’ by Bombay Sapphire, and uses Italian influences to create interesting combinations such as the two signature glasses. The ‘Olive Oil Gin Fizz’ consists of gin, lemon, lemon sugar, olive oil, prosecco and egg white while the ‘Liquorice Sour’ includes chivas whisky, lemon, egg white, liquorice, sugar and truffle . Additionally, the ‘Mayfair Elegante’ and ‘Mayfair Aperitivo’ are set to be a success; with names nodding to the bars en vogue location, the Elegante is made up of light rum, gin, blood orange liqueur, clarified citrus and bitters while the Aperitivo is a concoction of punt e mes, fresh grapefruit, orange and tonic.
