Ocean Restaurant - Fermain Valley Hotel, Guernsey, St Peters Port

Refurbishment is complete on the Fermain Valley Hotel; a four star resort situated halfway down the valley just a five minute drive from Guernsey’s capital St Peters Port.

Renovations began in 2004 to create a beautiful boutique hotel with individually appointed bedrooms, first class facilities, including swimming pool, Sauna, 3D Cinema, two restaurants including The Rock Garden Steakhouse and Ocean 2AA Rosette restaurant and award winning gardens. The Fermain Valley vision was conceived by founder and owner Derek Coates, whom had the foresight to acquire two hotels, the Favorita hotel and the Fermain Hotel and combine them to create a single site.

The hotel boasts a plethora of bedrooms all of which are accompanied by stunning views of either the Fermain Valley or the English Channel. Silver bedrooms house a king size bed and views of the valley while gold rooms are individually decorated and complete with a luxurious sea view. The hotels best rooms, platinum rooms, are filled with absolute luxury; presenting extra touches of glamour to guests and again boasting sea views.

Another key part of the renovation was the opening of two brand new and exciting restaurants which can be used by both hotel guests and visitors. The Ocean restaurant is focused around the selection of fresh local seafood so readily available in Guernsey’s waters. The restaurant is winner of Guernsey Quality Assurance award and 2 AA rosettes.

The rock garden steakhouse serves steak and cocktails. From Herefordshire reared fillets, Argentinean sirloins to melt-in-the-mouth Brazilian Rib Eyes. The menu is accompanied by an extensive list of unique cocktails, including Lemon Cheesecake, Ms Rosie and Extraordinaire, along with classic options such as Mojitos and Cosmopolitans.

The renovation of the restaurants was completed by Andy Thornton Contracts Ltd, a design and build practice who manufacture and install on buildings across the Channel Islands.

Stephen Shaw, Senior Interior Designer at Andy Thornton Contracts Ltd said:

“It was fantastic for us to be involved with the renovation of the Fermain Valley Hotel; it ran smoothly, the client was accommodating and we didn’t have to make many amendments to our original idea.”

As well as the main building, the hotel houses a second building named ‘The Venue’. The venue plays home to event areas and venue guest rooms. The Venue caters for wedding as well as business meetings and conferences. Those looking for an intimate wedding can cater for up to 84 guests having a sit down meal alternatively up to 120 guests can be catered for with a standing buffet. Wedding packages come complete with a complimentary wedding night for the bride and groom, a master of ceremonies, red carpet welcome, use of the cake stand and knife as well as free accommodation for the first wedding anniversary and preferential rates for wedding guests in the buildings 11 bedrooms.
