Located in a tree lined conservation area in Ashton-on-Ribble, the Egerton Road development known as Row of Trees, comprises four, four-bedroom detached family homes.

The properties – 63, 65, 67 and 69 Egerton Road – are high specification dwellings in a fantastic location.

Work began on constructing the new houses in May 2013 and is continuing to make great progress. James Carter Homes is constructing the dwellings, with Senior Site Manager Ian Wallis overseeing the work.

Houses within the Row of Trees development are being built from brick and block with insulated cavity walls and a high performance light gauge steel structured roof. Windows on the properties are uPVC whilst doors – including bi-fold doors – are made from aluminium and have been coloured grey to match the style of the houses. Each of the houses includes gardens and a sizeable driveway and are perfect for families.

Speaking to Premier Construction, Ian said:

“To date we have completed one of the houses, we have one with a roof installed, another ready for its roof and the final one is being prepared for the beams and flooring. Work is running as we would expect on this project; it isn’t a fast build, but that is down to the civil works which are quite extensive on this site.”

With work continuing on the project Ian is confident of the project’s success and it’s not surprising as this site has already caught the attention of the NHBC with a Pride in the Job Award being awarded to the Senior Site Manager. Ian is also no stranger to the NHBC having already picked up numerous awards with the building council for previous projects.

Ian said:

“I’ve won several awards over the years but to continue winning them is very important as it demonstrates the high quality of my work. Quality to me is paramount above everything else.

“The speed with which you work and the cost of a project is always going to be important but the quality finish is really what it is all about. You have to give people the best quality that you can give them and that is what we strive to do with each project.”

U Roof Limited, in Elland, West Yorkshire, specialise in the design, manufacture and installation of light gauge steel frames for full frame builds and roofs. The company has been in operation for five years and most recently has been involved with the Row of Trees development on Egerton Road.

U Roof Limited Design & Systems Manager, Chris Corbett, said:

“We have been involved with the roofing works across each plot. We work from the architect’s drawings to meet the design brief and then provide a precision product.”

Chris added:

“It’s always great to be involved in projects such as this and it’s a project which has marked the first time where we have sent through final wallplate setting out drawings for approval and nothing has been altered – something which I think speaks volumes for Ian’s construction approach.”
