No-Dig Live 2014- Peterborough Arena, September 16th and 18th 2014

Organised by Westrade Group Ltd, NO-DIG Live is the UK’s only biennial trenchless technology event.

The event has been running in London since 1985 and this year took place at Peterborough Arena between September 16th and 18th 2014.

The event was supported by many leading industry names and with the event being held close to the A1, access proved easy for those who attended. This year’s show was also the biggest in its 24 year history, with around 100 companies displaying a huge range of products and services.

Exhibitors attended from all over the world, including Austria, Germany, Finland, Spain, the UAE and of course the UK. Leading names at NO-DIG Live included Balfour Beatty, Cable Detection, DSI Ltd, ER Systems, International Underground Systems, Kobus Services Ltd and Vandervalk + Degroot Group. In addition, approximately 50% of the exhibitors attended the outdoor demonstration area, giving visitors an opportunity to see a wide range of equipment in action.

A new addition this year was the daily programme of Mini Masterclasses on Trenchless Technology. Presented by UKSTT, this was an exciting initiative offering educational taster sessions on a variety of topics. The presenters were industry practitioners who encouraged active audience participation.

Visitors even had the opportunity to take part in the daily Breakfast Briefing programme, which started at 8:30am and concluded when the exhibition opened. Lucky visitors were greeted with a bacon butty before they joined the day’s topical programme of presentations. Day One focused on utility mapping, Day Two was hosted by the Pipeline Industries Guild, and Day Three served up new solutions for dense urban working.

A highlight of the three day event was the demonstrations, which were plentiful and extremely informative. The demonstrations allowed visitors to see a range of products and learn how they could be applied to various engineering projects.

Every hour, Ant Hire Solutions demonstrated their lateral cutting robots, whilst IBAK portable CCTV systems were in operation to showcase functionality and picture quality. Meanwhile, Canusa-CPS demonstrated the correct application of heat shrink sleeves for HDD and EC Hopkins offered up demos of ICS chainsaws.

Throughout the day Force One was on hand to showcase suction excavation in operation, whilst TA Drilling offered up pneumatic mole demos and jet vac pothole excavations. TT UK also demonstrated Grundomat soil displacement hammers as well as suction excavators.

Flowplant exhibited two machines from its current range – the 200 Series van pack drain jetter and the 300 Series. The 200 Series has a powerful performance of 200 bar at 41 litres per minute, whilst the 300 Series can handle even the most stubborn of blockages in drains up to 300mm in diameter.

With all this and much, much more, NO-DIG Live proved to be another fantastic event from Westrade Group Ltd.
