Ealing Broadway Crossrail approved

Proposals for a major upgrade of Ealing Broadway station as part of Crossrail were approved by Ealing Council’s Planning Committee on the 13th August.

The new station has been designed by Bennetts Associates and upon completion will boast a long, curved canopy running the length of the forecourt. The canopy will act as a great feature piece for the station.

Other parts of the renovation project will replace the dated 1970s façade with a new glass structure and a new entrance twice the size of the existing one. Other improvements include a much larger ticket hall, more than twice the size of the present one, four new lifts, improved staircases, platform extensions, new toilets and better passenger information displays.

Crossrail has worked alongside the London Borough of Ealing, the local MP and community groups as well as local developers and nearby landowners, in order to plan the renovation programme. These dialogues will continue throughout the project. Construction by Network Rail is expected to begin next summer and will last around 18 months.
