Situated in the sublime Sussex countryside, Alexander House Boutique Hotel & Utopia Spa is a luxury, 5 Star boutique hotel set within 120 acres of glorious countryside.
The hotel is located on the borders of Sussex and Surrey and boasts a fantastic collection of suites, rooms, restaurants and an award-winning spa.
Keen to keep the hotel at the forefront of customer satisfaction the hotel recently introduced 19 brand new Cedar Lodge suites, all housed within a two storey, detached annexe. Each of the suites includes en-suite facilities and ancillary spaces, whilst one central suite provides guest accommodation across two floors and includes an open plan lounge and dining area.
Work began on the project in 2013 and is currently scheduled to reach completion in September 2014. Flisher Construction is the main contractor on the new suites, whilst KSS is providing all architectural services.
KSS has worked with the hotel group on a number of occasions across their hotel portfolio. In 2005 the group approached KSS to complete their vision for a £7 million extension to the 18th Century Alexander House, which was then followed by the creation of a new standalone meeting and conference suite at the hotel’s sister site in Wilmington, near Dartford.
Speaking to Premier Hospitality about the creation of the new suites, KSS Director, Lee Nightingale, said:
“We have designed a contemporary two-storey building which would replace the existing bungalows located at the front of the estate. This new pavilion is quite a stark difference to the rest of the buildings and includes the use of cedar cladding, a considerable amount of glass and floating flat roof.
“The ground floor suites have direct access onto private patios, whilst the first floor suites have their own balconies. The suites have great views across the countryside.”
The 19 new suites are divided between Garden Suites, Garden Deluxe Suites and the Duplex Garden Master Suite. The Garden & Garden Deluxe Suites showcase vibrant interiors, with a spacious yet homely touch, whilst the Duplex Garden Master Suite includes a bathtub made for two people and an emperor bed finished with a luxurious mulberry silk filled duvet.
To complete the installation of the new suites some modest external works are being implemented which include the creation of a new passageway. The passageway will sit between the existing hotel building and the new Cedar Lodge, linking up the buildings. The entrance to the hotel’s car park is also being reconfigured.
“Working on this project means a great deal to us. Working on hotels, especially with a client we know so well, is always enjoyable. This new building is in such a prominent position at the hotel, that it puts even more emphasis on us getting the design right. We have worked very closely with the hotel group, who were completely on board the direction that we have taken with this new building and collection of suites.”
The suites join an already impressive selection of rooms and suites at the hotel, which include Classic and Luxury rooms, as well as Spa Suites, the Traditional Suite and the Henley Presidential Suite. The Henley Suite boasts a range of features, including an iPod docking station, a selection of books and magazines, a large flat screen TV, an Nespresso coffee machine, a PlayStation 3 and complimentary Wi-Fi. The room has a separate lounge, bedroom and a huge bathroom with separate bath, shower, twin vanity units and television.
With a number of impressive facilities already on site, including complimentary use of the helipad for all guests, a champagne bar and afternoon tea lounges, the new suites will allow even more people to experience and enjoy a stay at Alexander House Hotel & Spa.
