Lima Floral, Covent Garden, London

Lima Floral, located in London’s Covent Garden, follows the success of Lima in Fitrovia which opened in July 2012.

The LIMA brand, known as LIMA London, is the creation of world-renowned Peruvian chef, Virgilio Martinez and his partners, the Gonzalez brothers. The new two storey, 170 cover venue opened its doors on the 23rd July this year and has been met with great feedback.

The new addition to the Lima brand offers guests a unique Peruvian dining experience serving piqueos; traditional Peruvian small tapas plates as well as an extensive cocktail list based on Pisco infusions with Amazonian fruits including the famous Peruvian pisco sour.

The venue, situated on Garrick Street, comprises a 60 cover main restaurant on the ground floor, as well as a bar and private dining room in the basement. B3 Designers have worked alongside Lima London to develop an interior with strong references to Peru, geometry, nature and materials of the earth.

The venue’s menu, sourced from both land and sea, is reflected in the restaurant’s design. The ground floor comprises an array of geometric details and feature lighting, as well as an intricate metal work screen with a natural, twig-like composition which is used to separate the entrance to the dining area.

The basement floor boasts rich midnight blue toned floral patterned tiles as well as bespoke tear-drop and round shaped wall lighting. The lights are illuminated through glowing opaque glass with thin metal edging.

The ground floor, which houses the main dining space, contains more unique, bespokely made lighting schemes which have been installed across the ceiling. Special materials, such as hand-glazed tiles, have been attached to the back bar in the basement and blue pearl granite has been added to the front of the kitchen server counter on the ground floor, as well as to the front of the basement bar.

In Lima Floral’s private dining space, in the basement, a large waney edge table takes centre stage. Five two-seater individual waney edge tables have also be found in the main restaurant on the ground floor.

Mark Bithrey, Design Director at B3 Designers, told Premier Hospitality Magazine:

“We wanted to take the client’s ideals of fresh, organic produce, ethically sourced and inspired by a variety of landscapes from the Pacific Ocean, the Amazon and the Andes Mountains; and design the interior to evoke a spirit of this natural environment while allowing the space to be casual, comfortable and interesting.”

The venue shares an authentic and native culinary offering; diners can expect a Michelin-star level of dining with a casual relaxed level of service. The main restaurant serves an innovative menu overseen by Virgilio Martinez and Head Chef Robert Ortiz. Some of Virgilio’s latest creations can be sampled in the main restaurant alongside rare native vegetables, fruits and fishes from remote places in the Amazon basin and the Andes altitudes. Diners visiting Lima Floral are sure to discover new flavours!
