Tibbatts*Abel is an interior design and architectural consultancy providing design works for the hospitality and leisure sectors.
Clients range from independent operators to large corporate clients, with projects including hotels, restaurants, nightclubs and bars.
Formed in April 2007, Tibbatts*Abel is overseen by partners Adam Tibbatts and Adrian Abel, who have vast experience in the industry and have overseen an array of fantastic projects, including Chinawhite and Buddha Bar in London and the Royal York Hotel, York. Both partners bring different skills to the practice, with Adrien more architecturally minded and Adam the interior design specialist of Tibbatts*Abel.
Recent projects for Tibbatts*Abel include the Toy Room and Azure Nightclub, two stunning new night clubs to hit the nation’s capital. The Toy Room is a private members-style club which boasts leather wall panelling and has room to accommodate 180 guests, whilst Azure is an intimate yet vibrant clubbing and partying space, with UV art and an LED ‘firework’ ceiling.
Keen to find out a little bit more about the projects, Premier Hospitality caught up with Tibbatts*Abel Partner, Adrian Abel to get the lowdown on the new clubs.
Situated on Swallow Street, Mayfair, Toy Room was an interesting project for Tibbatts*Abel and one that was completed with breakneck speed. Toy Room was an existing club in much need of a makeover and was transformed in just four weeks, ready for its grand opening in September 2014.
The club boasts warm lighting and comfortable seating, making it both inviting and relaxing in its style and presentation.
“We changed the atmosphere and feel of the venue, from a traditional nightclub to a more intimate members-style club. We installed leather cladding on the walls and added a few touches which have made it more personal.”
To complete the Toy Room, hip hop DJs, a creative cocktail menu and Frank the Teddy – the club’s new logo and mascot – are in place to ensure that guests have the best time possible.
Prior to working on Toy Room, Tibbatts*Abel successfully delivered Azure.
“We started on Azure towards the end of 2013, but work took place on the site in March 2014. The brief for Azure was to bring elements of London’s West End to Enfield, whilst increasing capacity. So we extended the premises at first floor level to reconfigure the building and then created a central dance floor space, a prominent DJ position and a great VIP seating area.”
One of the key highlights of the venue is its striking lighting scheme, which includes vibrant shades of red, blue and pink, creating an energising mix of colour throughout the club. Azure also boasts a fantastic bar service and an external terrace area.
“Azure has a great layout and a great atmosphere, with a capacity for 300.”
Moving forward, Tibbatts*Abel has a number of exciting projects in the pipeline and is currently working on Jinjuu in the London’s West End, for American chef and TV personality Judy Joo. It is varied projects such as these, along with an ever expanding knowledge of the industry which drives Tibbatts*Abel forward to create such innovative designs.
“Our understanding of what the customer requires is what we are most proud of about our practice. We appreciate what the client is trying to achieve and this ensures that we fit the right product to the right client.”
