Set up by Andrew French in 1996, Creed Design Associates is an innovative design practice, providing clients with creative solutions which meet their needs.

Operating from a studio in Enderby, Leicestershire, Creed Design Associates work with both national and independent clients offering services from interior architecture and design to full project management.

Premier Hospitality recently caught up with Managing Director, Andrew, to find out more about some of the projects which Creed Design Associates have recently been involved with. Andrew discussed the practice’s long standing working relationship with Pizza Express, as well as its association with Frankie & Benny’s and its involvement with Ca’puccino at Heathrow Terminal 2.

Speaking to Premier Hospitality, Creed Design Managing Director, Andrew French, said:

“I set up Creed Design after working for a number of other businesses. The practice’s first corporate client, Pizza Express, followed in 1997 and then we became a limited company in 1999.

“We started off working with retail clients, but as the company matured we became involved with more hospitality clients, which helped us build our reputation within the industry.”

Creed Design Associates has an excellent working relationship with Pizza Express, having worked on many restaurants for the high street chain.

A recent project for Creed Design Associates saw the practice design a new Pizza Express restaurant in Spitalfields, London.

Commenting on the scheme, Andrew said:

“For this project, Pizza Express took over an existing building within the centre of Spitalfields. We gutted the building, exposing a lot of the structure so that we could incorporate it into our scheme.”

Andrew added:

“Each Pizza Express incorporates design themes which take a little history from its surroundings. This could be something specific to the community or something which we see as a real point of interest.”

The project was handed over in summer 2014 and has proved to be another success for both Creed Design and Pizza Express.

Another successful project for Creed Design Associates was Ca’puccino. Creed Design Associates became involved with the project due to their association with the French Group; the contractor responsible for fit-out work on the scheme.

Ca’puccino at The Queen’s Terminal, Heathrow T2 is a 140-cover Italian diner which draws together a contemporary and chic coffee house with a signature restaurant. The venue includes a fresh ice-cream & chocolate bar, as well as a children’s area for families, and was founded by shareholders Giacomo Moncalvo and Maurizio Raviolo.

Andrew commented:

“With this project taking place within an airport, the submissions process was understandably complex. A great deal of work went into this scheme.”

Throughout 2014, Creed Design Associates has worked with American-Italian restaurant chain Frankie & Benny’s; providing services for four of its sites. The venues included Trowbridge, Wisbech, Llantrisant and Fort Kinnaird. All were brand new restaurants for the chain.

Although Frankie & Benny’s utilise a familiar design scheme across its restaurants, Creed Design Associates has injected a few design variations into the new sites, whilst still maintaining the brand’s core values.

Andrew said:

“The challenge on these projects tends to be how do we optimise the brand’s standards for a specific site? A great deal of the work focuses on ensuring that we communicate these standards and values as best as we can, within the environment that we are working with.”

In addition to national chains, Creed Design Associates work with independent clients, like Stone Willy’s Kitchen, a deli café in Longbridge. They have also provided services for park schemes, such as the creation of The Climate Trail at Watermead Park for Leicester City Council. Moving forward Creed Design Associates will continue to build up its ever-expanding portfolio with new clients, whilst still maintaining the working relationships which have helped the practice to grow.

Andrew said:

“We consistently strive to deliver the best possible service for our clients. We are always pushing what we can achieve. Businesses return to us because they value our input and how well we perform. We are very proud of this.”
