Following the success of Café Football – which launched at the end of 2013 – GG Hospitality is set to open its second venture – Hotel Football, which houses The Old Trafford Supporters Club.

Positioned opposite Manchester United’s OId Trafford stadium on Sir Matt Busby Way, the 133 bedroom hotel will open its doors in March 2015, ready to serve match day fans, as well as families, tourists and business users.

Like Café Football, GG Hospitality directors and former teammates, Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville have been heavily involved in the creation of the hotel and its features. To add to the footballing credentials other members of the Class of ’92 – Philip Neville, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt – are also investors in the project.

The five former teammates, alongside GG Hospitality’s managing director Stuart Procter, are creating a unique experience which promises to surprise and delight everyone who passes through its doors.

Discussing the combination of players involved in the project, Stuart Procter commented:

“Their knowledge of football is second to none and this will be evident throughout the hotel, but the focus is on quality, as well as football – to ensure it is a great experience for everyone.”

Speaking about the development of Hotel Football, Gary Neville, said:

“Ryan and I are looking forward to another new challenge, working with our former teammates again to create something special near to the stadium we all love.

Paul Scholes added:

“When Gary and Ryan mentioned the idea of Hotel Football and Old Trafford Supporters Club I was really keen to get involved – the hotel is our chance to create something special for the fans.”

Phil Neville continued:

“We want The Old Trafford Supporters Club to become a place United fans can think of as their own.”

Hotel Football will be headed up by general manager, Stewart Davies, who has previously run hotels in Manchester including the Mint Hotel and the Hilton Double Tree.

Once complete, the fantastic new hotel will boast its own five-a-side rooftop football pitch as well as unique meeting & event spaces, catering for up to 500 people. Hotel Football will also showcase Café Football Manchester, GG Hospitality’s restaurant which has already proved hugely successful at Westfield Stratford City.

Café Football Manchester will feature some of the signature dishes from its London counterpart, where the menu was designed by two Michelin star chef, Michael Wignall, in collaboration with the group executive chef, Brendan Fyldes.

Ryan Giggs said:

“Through the hotel we are giving local people the opportunity to work in a great hospitality environment. We will also be working closely with local students to help them build their own careers as this is something we are really passionate about.”

Nicky Butt added:

“Hotel Football Manchester gives us the chance to build something new and successful so close to Old Trafford, a place we all enjoy spending our careers.”

AEW is the architect on Hotel Football, whilst NWP Electrical & Mechanical are undertaking all the mechanical and electrical works on the project, including the design, installation, testing and commissioning.

Established in 1996, NWP Electrical & Mechanical is one of the largest M&E contractors in the North West and North Wales. Working on Hotel Football, NWP completed the design process before installation work began on site.

Sam Evans of NWP Electrical & Mechanical, said:

“All projects undertaken by NWP are treated with equal care and consideration. This particular project offers NWP an opportunity to further increase our presence within the North West in addition to increasing the leisure aspect of our portfolio.”

“Working on such high profile developments assists NWP in our progression into a leading mechanical and electrical contractor within the UK. NWP recently identified key growth locations including Edinburgh, Birmingham and London. Although Manchester was not identified as a new area of operations due to NWP’s past project success we have completed five projects in or within the surrounding area since 2012.”
