Gourmet Burger Kitchen

Set to tantalise taste buds in Swindon, a new Gourmet Burger Kitchen Restaurant, from the national chain which changed the UK burger scene forever, has just opened at the new Regent Circus complex.

Where once the traditional burger was seen purely as a fast food option, gourmet burgers have knocked tradition on the head. Gourmet Burger Kitchen has created a nutritious sophisticated product using the best and freshest ingredients available.

Gourmet Burger Kitchen started in 2001, when three New Zealanders set up the first restaurant in Battersea, South London. Now with over 60 restaurants across the UK, the chain still pride themselves on serving up a variety of handcrafted burgers, combining 100% prime beef with the freshest ingredients and burger sauces made from scratch, every day, in each GBK kitchen.

The new Swindon Restaurant was designed by Fusion Design Associates.

Speaking of the new restaurant, Alasdair Murdoch of Gourmet Burger Kitchen told Premier Hospitality:

“We are aiming to open 10 restaurants a year and the West of England been a very good area for us. We have a restaurant close to Bath, another in Swindon, two in Bristol and two in Cardiff – all of which are doing well – so when this opportunity came up it looked quite exciting. This is an area that we are very keen to expand into, as the economy is quite strong and the demographics are favourable to our offer.

“One of the things that distinguishes us from many competitors is that we invest a considerable amount of money into the design of our restaurants, with high quality being a key feature – including quality table tops, real leather banquettes, a high standard of flooring and well thought-out lighting.

“All of our restaurants are individually designed and centred around the kitchen and the food. The Swindon restaurant features an open kitchen with a design geared to creating a good warm vibrant feeling, with nice lighting and real quality throughout.

“We decided that Swindon was an obvious town to add to our portfolio which runs up through to Cardiff, and are also planning to open a new Gourmet Burger Kitchen in Newport later in the year.”

The complex on which the Swindon restaurant is sited is home to a multi-screen Cineworld cinema, Morrisons supermarket and restaurants including Nando’s, Ask, Jimmy Spices, Coal and Prezzo.

Ashfield Land, which owns the site, said it is delighted to welcome Gourmet Burger Kitchen to the development. James Digby, a director at Ashfield Land, said:

“I am delighted that the Gourmet Burger Kitchen is part of this exciting scheme – they are a fantastic addition to our exciting line-up.”

Gourmet Burger Kitchen burgers are made from 100% prime beef, traditionally reared and grass fed on independent farms across the South West counties. All of their beef is hand selected to ensure they serve the freshest, best quality burgers every day.

Their menu features an impressive selection of tempting new takes on the burger including: Blazing Sombrero with chorizo relish, tortilla chips, house mayo, rocket, and pickled onion, on a brioche bun; the Kiwiburger with beetroot, fried egg, pineapple, mature Cheddar, house mayo, relish and salad, and the St Morish with raclette cheese, truffled mushrooms, baconnaise, chilli chocolate ketchup and onion jam.
