Amanzi – a major new destination restaurant ‘the like of which Liverpool has never seen before’ – has just been created through a multi-million pound transformation which takes hospitality to a new level.

The magnificent new restaurant in Water Street opened in December 2014 and was created in the former premises of the Newz Bar.

Main Contractors for the project were DJ Construction Ltd/Darren James; designers were Carroll Design.

A clever lighting projection against the entrance to Amanzi evokes the effect of running water, whilst the stunning interior features three bars for pre- and post-dinner drinks and luxurious tables and booths with views across the state-of-the-art kitchen, where some of the UK’s leading chefs can be seen working.

The menu has an Asian influence and is geared to offering affordable opulence, including, for example, 28 day cured steak and rock lobster. Amanzi’s menu features food sourced from the very best local suppliers and a cheese board including regional favourites, as well as more exotic dishes such as Pacific oysters and Alaskan king crab.

With a world-class front of house team in designer uniforms (designed by the duo behind Philip Armstrong, Liverpool-based designers to the A-listers), Amanzi is definitely the new place to see and be seen.

Riad Erraji operating partner of Amanzi told Premier Hospitality:

“Amanzi occupies an iconic site in Liverpool in a location which links with Liverpool’s main waterfront element, which has a great deal of heritage.

“It is a stunning architectural building with high ceilings in which we have created a restaurant the like of which Liverpool has never seen before.

“The design of the new restaurant opens up what was previously a very dark space with lighting being a key element. The former Newz bar had the longest bar in Europe, and we have now divided this space into different areas including a standing area, main bar, restaurant and VIP terraced area.

“The lighting scheme therefore had to be completely re-designed to create the right ambience in all these different locations. We carried out numerous studies to come up with the right design and the result is stunning.

“Following the multi-million pound refurbishment, we’ve put this Water Street address firmly on the map, creating a sophisticated, modern venue which will appeal to all those in this city and beyond who want to dine in style.

“We already have a portfolio of various restaurants, bars and coffee shops in Liverpool and Manchester, but Amanzi is our main focus at the moment. We have an international roll-out plan for the restaurant and are already looking at other sites in London, LA, and Dubai.”

Ian McKeand, managing partner of Amanzi owners Lion House Portfolio, said:

“There was clearly demand for a destination venue like Amanzi in Liverpool. The quality of the food, drink, interior design and the calibre of the team all combine to create a truly special restaurant which will enhance the city’s offer within the hospitality market.”

“We provided the design and installation of the Audio system at Amanzi. Most bar and restaurant systems use big black wedge shaped speakers. With the stunning quality and finish of Amanzi we have provided a system that not only fits with the decor of the building but also sounds as good as its surroundings look.”
