Loks, Newlandsfield Road, Glasgow

Situated on Newlandsfield Road in Glasgow, Loks Bar & Kitchen is a brand new concept for dining in Scotland.

The venue comprises three facilities – Loks Bar & Kitchen, the Trophy Bar and the Newlandsfield Suite – and provides guests with all-day dining, a welcoming sports bar and a suite capable of catering for parties and special occasions.

Loks Bar & Kitchen opened its doors in November 2014 following a redevelopment programme, which saw the building transformed from its previous existence as Pollok FC social club to Loks. Blevins Shopfitters was the main contractor on the redevelopment, whilst Brian O’Hanlon provided architectural services. Meanwhile, Glasgow-based design consultancy THR3 Design was the design consultant on the project.

The venue’s restaurant has been completed to a very high standard and boasts a full-length glass wall, as well as an associated beer garden – both of which are perfect for taking advantage of the warmer months of the year. Meanwhile, the Trophy Bar takes design inspiration from a traditional library and provides punters with the perfect setting to relax, converse and enjoy their free-time.

Lok’s third facility is the Newlandsfield Suite, a venue with room for 180 people, catering for all types of events from conferences and christenings to birthdays and weddings. The Newlandsfield Suite was completed to the same high standards as the restaurant and Trophy Bar and benefits from a view which looks out over Pollok Football Club and boasts a 12 foot HD projector screen, making it a great venue for football, rugby or any major sporting event.

Commenting on the project, Suzy Kingswood of THR3 Design, said:

“Where possible we endeavour to source new exciting products that none of our other clients have already installed in projects. We constantly try to design new bar frontages, using materials in innovative ways to the client’s approval to create interesting visuals in the restaurants and bars we work on.

“Sourcing materials from contemporary designers is a must, encouraging the clients to think out of the box and push the design limits as far as possible, whilst fulfilling their design brief and practical requirements.”

Decorative lighting specialists, Ottimo Lighting, were responsible for sourcing key lighting pieces for Loks’, with products sourced from as far away as Venice, Barcelona and Holland. A particular highlight is the stunning Quasar Citadel, which comprises a trio of fixed rings with 156 LEDS and is a true statement piece at the entrance of Loks.

Robert Parkes of Ottimo Lighting, said:

“I work closely with design consultants Thr3 Design on a regular basis. When I was approached to assist on the project I was more than happy to help. Loks Bar & Kitchen’s recent refurbishment came with an amazing concept, providing a variety of functions under one roof.

“The place looks stunning and it now provides an exceptional venue for the Southside of Glasgow. To have been part of this has been fantastic.”

A big highlight of Loks Bar & Kitchen is its delicious menu which includes such dishes as chicken supreme, stuffed with haggis; braised lamb tagine; seared Shetland salmon supreme; and the ever popular beer battered fish and hand cut chips. The menu also includes a selection of mouth-watering homemade pies; a range of pastas; a choice of burgers and skewers; and of course a collection of starters, salads and sides. A children’s menu is available at Loks Bar & Kitchen, as well as a lite bite and breakfast menu.

To complement the food offering, Loks serves up an extensive drinks menu which includes a range of white and red wines, from light and dry to full bodied offerings.
