Crown & Garter in Berkshire is a traditional public house located on Great Common Road, Hungerford.
The pub provides punters with delicious food, a good selection of drinks and a friendly welcome.
Crown & Garter’s hospitality offering doesn’t just stop at a restaurant and bar, the venue is also complimented by a collection of beautifully designed guest bedrooms each providing guests with a comfortable night’s stay. Each room boasts a range of features, including TVs and shower rooms, as well as plenty of space for guests to hang their clothes.
In March 2014, Crown & Garter underwent an extensive refurbishment designed to update and improve facilities. The bulk of the project – which focused on upgrading the restaurant, bar and bedrooms – was completed in September 2014; however a new coffee shop and bakery was also added to the site, taking the overall scheme until November to complete.
Overseen by Robert Rodrigues, the newly built coffee shop and bakery serves up a range of tasty treats, from homemade breads to cakes, cookies and sarnies. The bakery provides the pub with freshly baked bread, but is also open for those wanting to pop in for a delicious breakfast.
Local interior design specialist, 03 Interiors, was heavily involved in the recent revamp of Crown & Garter. Based in Pangbourne, the practice is an expert in interior design works and was more than happy to be involved with this particular project.
Speaking to Premier Hospitality, Deirdre Hurcombe, Co-Director of 03 Interiors, said:
“We have worked with this client for 18 years, but this is the first time that we have taken on a commercial project for them. They were very pleased with the end result and the feedback from local people has been very positive.”
Discussing the scope of the project, Deirdre said:
“We updated the bathrooms, installed new flooring and windows in the bedrooms and built a new kitchen. Meanwhile, in the bar we knocked down walls, built a new bar, installed new flooring and fitted new furnishings.”
The guest bedrooms are situated around a courtyard, so benefit from access to a beautiful private garden. Internally, the rooms are fully furnished and each has its own individual character.
03 Interiors Co-Director David Gray, said:
“The project has been a natural progression from the schemes that we have conducted for our client and it has been a great project to be involved with.”
