Founded in 1990 and based in Scunthorpe, Britcon is a family owned and operated contractor specialising in building, civil engineering and structural steel works.

As a leading contractor, the company has worked with many prestigious clients including Network Rail, the NHS, Total, Severn Trent Water, Aldi, Lidl, South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue and Humberside Police, amongst others.

Britcon operate across a variety of sectors, from agricultural, energy & renewables and defence & aerospace, to rail, retail and sports. Past projects for Britcon have included Bentley Park and Ride, Waterloo Peak Hour Subway, Dragon Bridge, the VOSA Enforcement Layby and Tadcaster East Primary School’s Children’s Centre.

Most recently Britcon has been involved with a £2.6 million project to erect a 30,000 sq ft extension to the Langage Science Park in Plymouth. The contractor is carrying out work on the Design and Build project for Plymouth City Council.

The project includes the construction of two new blocks, each comprising nine different workshops and offices. The blocks are being built from a steel frame construction and clad with Kingspan panels. Once complete, the blocks will showcase a range of energy saving features, from solar photovoltaic panels to high levels of insulation.
