A project to create a new development which can provide assisted living for residents in Brent is nearing completion.
Vivian Avenue is an extra care scheme from Network Housing Group Ltd and includes 40 units, comprising a mix of one and two-bedroom dwellings. The project is currently in the final stages and will reach completion at the end of February.
Network Housing Group Ltd has worked very closely with Brent Adult Social Care on the project, to ensure the best possible specifications are included at Vivian Avenue. A particular focus has been made to the mechanical and electrical specifications so that they are in line with the needs of all residents. Denne Construction is the main contractor on the project.
Vivian Avenue is located within a residential setting and is situated next to a similar Network Housing Group extra care scheme. The development boasts a range of facilities, from a laundrette and hair dressers, to a fully fitted carer’s room, which is capable of providing 24 hour care to all residents.
The units at Vivian Avenue are all self-contained but the overall scheme includes a number of communal spaces which provide areas for residents where they can interact with each other, should they wish.
Speaking to Premier Construction, Amanda Citroph from Network Housing Group’s Housing Management Team, said:
“We wanted a scheme that has a real community feel to it, so this development includes a communal lounge and communal kitchen as well as a garden and allotment space.
“This development includes a blend of good quality, light, bright and spacious accommodation and it is a scheme that I have really enjoyed being a part of.”
Network Housing Group takes safety and security very seriously, so the development also includes a community alarm system which is linked to on-site carers, as well as an out-of-hours emergency team.
Project Manager, Zarina Khalid of Network Housing Group, said:
“It has been great to be able to work on an extra care scheme as it is quite different to other projects and I have thoroughly enjoyed the experience.”
