Construction milestone for new Aberdeen hotels

A key construction milestone was recently reached on Dominvs Hospitality’s Aberdeen Holiday Inn Express and Crowne Plaza hotel development projects.

A ceremonial “Topping out” event was held at the Aberdeen Airport site, signifying that the projects have reached their maximum height and their structural frameworks are now complete.

Dominvs Hospitality’s professional team includes McAleer and Rushe as the design and build contractor, Dexter Moren Associates as their interior designer and Urban Innovations as the lead architects.

Sean Brookes Chief Operating Officer of Dominvs Hospitality commented:

“This is a proud day for both the team and I at Dominvs Hospitality. It’s fantastic to be able to see the hotels rapidly nearing completion and I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported us in getting to this stage. Our aim is to create leading destinations by the Airport and I look forward to the launch of our hotels in June and October of 2015.”

The limited service Holiday Inn Express will feature 193 bedrooms, one meeting room and a 150 seat restaurant, whilst the full service Crowne Plaza will feature 165 bedrooms, seven meeting rooms, two banqueting suites and a 240 seat restaurant.

Both hotels will offer a restful stay and a comfortable working environment for business and leisure guests alike.

The 15 month construction phase began in March 2014.

“Reaching this milestone on the Aberdeen project is a significant moment for the teams as McAleer Rushe and Dominvs, allowing the teams to celebrate and reflect on the long-term legacy of this key development.”

This contract is the first in a series of phased contracts to be signed between Dominvs Group and contractor McAleer & Rushe. Worth in excess of £100m, the series involves the construction of a development programme of hotels across the UK.

The next £30m contract to be signed is for a 307-room Holiday Inn on Aytoun Street, in Manchester City Centre.

Preet Ahluwalia who led the contract negotiations and project implementation at Dominvs Group commented:
