Local Guernsey Company, Masterline Architectural Products, has recently launched its bespoke, high quality handmade timber windows with ground breaking invisible double glazing.

The firm, which has been manufacturing joinery products since 1948, offers a unique solution to the provision of conservation and contemporary windows using the very latest advanced technology. This technical breakthrough is winning the favour of an increasing number of planning and conservation officers, architects and private customers.

The appearance of conventionally manufactured double glazed panes is not aesthetically pleasing as the spacer bars that separate the glass are the predominant feature of the window and are normally highly visible, badly positioned and do not colour match to the window to which they are fitted, but instead are often black or silver. For this reason buyers have been frustrated that double glazed timber windows could not be applied to development and refurbishment projects as planning and conservation officers would not allow them.

We all want the effective insulation of our property and energy efficiency is an imperative consideration in an increasingly green environment. However, style and elegance are also very important factors, particularly for the client focused on conservation executed with high quality finishing. In order to meet customer demand the firm made a major investment in a detailed programme of research and development which has resulted in the invention of its innovative invisible double glazing system, which is now incorporated into every window manufactured by Masterline.

Provides a wide range of design and manufacturing services enables the company to support the most complex of design challenges through their highly trained in-house design team and they craft windows of the very highest quality performance with period character or contemporary features.

The firm also offer a range of knot free timbers and the preferred timber of manufacture is Accoya, manufactured by applying a non-toxic treatment to fast growing softwood timber from sustainable sources. This product is incredibly durable and provides for an impressive paint finish.

Accoya has very high durability and dimensional stability allowing for reduced maintenance and is a viable alternative to even high energy man made materials. The timber has a minimum lifespan of 50 years, swelling and shrinkage is reduced by 75% and its paint finish lasts 3-4 times longer than those of conventional materials. It is ideal for developments affected by the corrosive sea air of the Channel Islands.

Each Masterline windows is fitted with toughened Planitherm Total low E glass panels, which are clear and Argon gas filled as standard. The glass carries the very latest advancements in thermally insulating glass coating technology which are specially manufactured by Saint-Gobain Glass for the UK market.

Planitherm products are specifically designed to keep interiors warmer in the winter months and improve energy efficiency by reflecting heat back into the property. The resulting thermal insulation is three times more efficient than that of standard double glazing and Planitherm products meet and exceed the new UK Government Building Regulations energy efficiency requirements.

Masterline glass carries the British Kite Mark for safety, issued by The British Standards Institution and a number of alternative glass specifications can be available including acoustic, laminated and Victorian Crown glass.
