Independent restaurant developers Lasan Group are soon to open Nosh & Quaff; the latest addition to their ever-growing portfolio of restaurants.

The venue, situated on Colmore Row in the Birmingham’s bustling financial district, is set to open in July offering diners a mouth-watering selection of dishes focusing on naturally reared products.

The venue spans four floors of a grade two listed building, which was originally a bank, and so the team have been extremely cautious to retain the historic features of the structure. Keane Brands are acting as the main contractor for the scheme as well as delivering all of the architectural and design services.

The planning process began in March last year with the main fit out works starting at the beginning of May.

Premier Hospitality caught up with Chef Director of Lasan Group, Aktar Islam, to find out more about Nosh & Quaff. He commented:

“Nosh & Quaff is a good time brand, providing an environment where people can enjoy a quality product without feeling pretentious. The venue is ‘dirty-glam’ and offers a comfy, approachable environment where everyone is welcome.”

The team have undertaken mainly superficial works to renovate the building, with the emphasis being placed on exposing the original features of the building. Minor demolition works were carried out to allow for the installation of a passenger lift to provide access to all four floors.

The onsite team have also been stripping back the structure, taking down false walls installed by previous owners to unveil the former banks raw form. The natural marble of the building acts as a main feature throughout the space, especially in the dining space where the original floors, original marble walls and ceiling have been revealed and emphasised.

The dining and bar areas, located on the ground and first floor, boast a number of metal and leather furniture items making the space inviting and cosy, yet chic and urban.

The basement floor comprises the Nosh & Quaff team’s staff facilities as well as the customer toilets and the second floor is the home of the venues kitchen.

At full capacity, including the bar space, Nosh & Quaff offers sitting space for 180 people.

The restaurants menu will mainly focus on lobster, as the main product, accompanied by burgers, hot dogs, ribs and wings. The menu has been designed to make the best of every food stuff, applying Lasan’s brand values to every element of each dish.

All of the products are sourced from naturally reared stock using existing suppliers that the Lasan Group work with across the rest of their brands.

Speaking about the group’s plans for the future Aktar commented:

“Lasan Group are always looking for our next venture; we have ideas of the next concept we want to work on so we may work on another Nosh & Quaff after this, or we may apply our resources to a creating new experiences for our diners. We are a quality independent restaurant group and so are not focused on creating chains of restaurants; instead we focus on providing the people of Birmingham with a diverse offering of food that they can trust.”

Aktar said that he and his business partner, Jabbar Khan, are very proud of their latest venue. Aktar added:

“When Nosh & Quaff opens there will be a great sense of satisfaction because we have invested a lot in this venue, including money, time, effort and emotions. I am really looking forward to opening the venue and to see our brand expands and our offering grow. There’s great anticipation from the city too, so who are equally enthusiastic about this new addition to the city’s restaurant scene.
