Situated on The Street in Ickham, Canterbury, the Duke William is an intimate and friendly, British pub showcasing a great menu, a fantastic selection of drinks, an always popular beer garden and of course, a healthy slice of good old fashioned hospitality.

The pub recently reopened to punters after undergoing a significant refurbishment programme and is now overseen by Mark Sargeant and Josh De Haan, the team behind Rocksalt and The Smokehouse in Folkestone.

The team took over the pub in March 2015 and quickly got to work giving the bar a makeover, before installing a new kitchen and transforming the external areas of the site. The key drive of the pub’s transformation was to improve services whilst ensuring the site retained its status as a classic British public house which could appeal to people from all walks of life.

The pub contains a fabulous central bar, a cosy restaurant, a beautiful conservatory and a large south facing countryside terrace and beer garden. The Duke William also boasts four en-suite guest rooms – situated above the pub – each containing flat screen TVs and Bluetooth DAB radios.

Speaking to Premier Hospitality, Jack Nimmons of the Duke William, said:

“After a detailed and well thought out refurbishment of the interior space, we feel that the look of the pub is like nothing else in the area and beyond. The lighting, colour scheme and furnishing have lifted the feel of the space whilst still staying true to the history of this classic Kentish pub.

“The aim with the Duke William, since the moment we took over, has been to keep it a traditional Kentish pub which serves the local community combined with a strong food offering to create a destination for customers further afield. The pub is also designed to appeal to families with lots to keep the kids entertained.”
