With seven restaurants dotted around London, in addition to venues in Cardiff, Manchester and the USA, Burger & Lobster is a thriving dining experience which combines delicious burgers with mouth-watering lobster dishes.

The brand’s latest restaurant – situated on Threadneedle Street in London – opened in May and continues to demonstrate Burger & Lobster’s commitment to great food and great service.

Keen to find out more about Burger & Lobster, Premier Hospitality caught up with Sally Williams of DesignLSM and Jason Beedle of HCM Interiors, two companies who have a long-standing working relationship with the brand. Both companies detailed their involvement with Burger & Lobster, whilst at the same time gave us a few insights into the look of the latest opening.

Branding, architecture and hospitality specialist, DesignLSM was the designer on Burger & Lobster Threadneedle Street. The practice has a fantastic working relationship with Burger & Lobster owners Goodman Restaurant Group and this latest site gave DesignLSM the opportunity to work on a beautiful Grade II Listed building in the process.

Describing the venue, Sally Williams, an Associate at DesignLSM, said:

“Burger & Lobster Threadneedle Street is the largest site in London and is housed within an old banking hall, which was previously home to a Japanese restaurant. The venue includes a mezzanine level towards the back, with the kitchen sitting below and an interesting ornate ceiling.”

Work began on Burger & Lobster Threadneedle Street in February 2015 and reached completion in May. As the restaurant is located within a Listed building, all work on the project was handled sensitively, paying great respect to the design of the existing structure.

Design highlights of the restaurant include a large bar, which is situated on the right-hand side of the restaurant and a large tunnel which is made from handmade lobster pots. A lobster tank is also located within the restaurant, allowing diners to see just how fresh their dinner is. All of the design elements remind diners that they are in a Burger & Lobster restaurant, whilst at the same time present something new for Burger & Lobster regulars.

Sally said:

“The Goodman Restaurant Group is always keen to find the right building for them; more so than to just open up a restaurant as quickly as possible. So the important aspect, for us, is to make the building feel like a Burger & Lobster as soon as customers walk in. How we present the space is very important.”

HCM Interiors was the main contractor on Burger & Lobster Threadneedle Street, providing high quality fit-out services for the project. To date, HCM Interiors have completed nine projects under the Burger & Lobster brand, including eight Burger & Lobster restaurants and one Smack Deli in Mayfair. Smack the Lobster Roll Deli is situated on Binney Street in London’s Mayfair district and offers diners a premium takeaway offer right on their doorstep.

Speaking about his company’s involvement with the Burger & Lobster brand, Jason Beedle of HCM Interiors commented:

“We thrive on the opportunity of working with Goodman Restaurant Group as we share their forward thinking, fast moving ethos, their commitment to cutting edge design and the highest standards of workmanship.”

DesignLSM and HCM Interiors have a wealth of experience in the industry, which has resulted in projects that are trouble-free, with challenges kept to a minimum. Jason said that the only real challenge with each new Burger & Lobster is finding the best way to accommodate the demanding construction programme within the confines of a city centre location.

Above all, both companies value their association with the Burger & Lobster brand and look forward to future projects with the brand.

Sally said:

“They’re a great client to work with, with some fantastic ideas. They are keen to let us take the reins with the design and we are happy to be working with them.”
