Since their inception residential construction and social housing specialists Lovell Construction have delivered a range of projects across the UK.

The firm are a wholly owned subsidiary of the Morgan Sindall Group; a leading UK construction and regeneration group.

The Group operates through five divisions: construction & infrastructure, affordable housing, fit out, urban regeneration and investments giving them the capability to take on projects with a high degree of size and complexity in partnership with other companies within the Group.

Lovell Constructions specialism’s include funding land, design & build, mixed tenure, repairs and maintenance and planned maintenance schemes.

Recently the firm has undertaken the design and build of 545 homes for social rent for West Lothian Council. Lovell were selected after a competitive tender process by West Lothian Council to design and build new affordable homes across eight locations.

All of the homes have been designed to achieve a 15% reduction in emissions against the standards required by the 2007 Building Regulations. In line with this the properties incorporate a range of energy efficient measures including enhanced insulation, energy efficient heating systems and positive input ventilation.

By working jointly with the Scottish Government and Scottish National Heritage the onsite team have developed a method of working so as not to disturb the natural habitat of local wildlife nearby.

Waste was also recycled and reused where possible, For example, some excavation waste was used to create garden areas. Lovell also got involved with a number of local initiatives alongside community consultation days held prior to starting on site.

Working with Community Action Blackburn and West Lothian Council Lovell provided a new climbing frame for a local park and sponsored Bathgate Thistle Community Football Club’s 2004 United team providing them with beanie hats.

Lovell has also delivered an internal and external refurbishment project at Cartrefi Cymunedol Gwynedd, after being appointed as the main contractor.

The internal works included kitchen and bathroom renewals, heating replacements and upgrades, electrical replacements and installation of loft insulation. The external works included roof repairs and replacements, chimney stack repairs, and renewal of gutters, fascias and soffits, new fencing, footpaths and boundary walls.

The CCG and Lovell partnership has so far created more than 60 jobs and apprenticeships for local people. After a major recruitment drive the construction firm took on 19 members of staff at their locally based management and delivery team.

The firm has also supported CCG’s Junior Warden’s Scheme two years in a row. Each year around 15 Year Six pupils from across Gwynedd take part in the scheme during the summer holidays. The six week programme aims to encourage children to become more engaged, promoting respect and pride in their communities.
