Westmade Limited Building Contractors provide accredited building services to clients throughout the corporate, commercial and public sectors; including Local Authorities, NHS Trusts, Government Bodies, Commercial Institutions and Housing Associations.

Since their inception in 1978 the Dorset based firm have undertaken maintenance, alteration and refurbishment works varying from £20 to £500,000.

In recent years the firm has invested heavily in new computer equipment and systems enabling them to provide a quick and efficient approach to all works they carry out. Since the firm was founded the team has built up many valued relationships with clients working alongside Dorset Police Authority, Bournemouth Borough Council, Oakmead College of Technology, Southampton City Council, Borough of Poole, Dorset County Council, Forest Edge Surveyors, Wessex Autistic Society, Bournemouth Housing Services, Anchor Trust and New Forest District Council to name but  a few.
The reputation and growth of Westmade Limited have been strengthened by the firm’s ability to provide the necessary skills and services needed to complete projects. A spokesperson for Westmade commented:
“We always adopt a positive ‘can do’ approach and our philosophy is one of complete service and quality to meet or excel customer expectations.”

Health and safety is also an issue of utmost importance at Westmade Ltd with the safety of all persons working on or visiting sites being at the forefront of Westmade’s priority list. A spokesperson added:
“It is our aim to promote safe methods of working at all times to achieve a safe working environment. We see this as a team effort with every employee from the operative on site to office management pulling together to create a safer workplace.

“We use an external Health and Safety consultant to oversee the whole safety process. We undertake inspections, give specialist advice and keep the company up to date with the constantly changing health and safety regulations. In addition to this Westmade also have internal systems and checks to ensure day to day compliance with safety standards.”

Westmade staff are required to undertake formal health and safety training on a regular basis to ensure that all persons are aware of the required regulations and systems of work. Sub-contractors used by Westmade are also vetted to ensure they comply with health and safety regulations before starting on site.

Sub contractors are asked to complete a rigorous health and safety questionnaire before references are obtained to ensure that their standards of safety meet the firm’s requirements. Most of the sub-contractors that Westmade use have been working with the company for many years and are familiar with the high standards of safe working practices that are required.

Risk assessments, method statements and safety plans are compiled before all major works and are submitted to clients and distributed on site to maintain that everyone involved with the project is aware of what is being done, as well as the systems of work that will allow the project to progress in a safe and controlled manner.
