92a Doods Road, Reigate

Exemplary work by all concerned with the project helped Arthur Wait Ltd’s Managing Director & Site Manager Derek Avery scoop his NHBC Pride in the Job Quality Award for an outstanding project to construct three terraced Queen Anne style town houses at 92a Doods Road, Reigate.

The superb four-bedroom three bathroom residences are situated in an enviable setting within walking distance to Reigate town centre and railway station.

The style of the development is inspired by an attractive and striking Queen Anne revival style adjacent building dating from around 1903. The building is locally listed and has been divided into two separate dwellings. A sizeable side garden to the west is the site for the new development.

The design approach was to create a building, which, whilst accommodating three individual houses, reads as a single building. The appearance of the building was strongly influenced by the adjacent Queen Anne style property, whilst avoiding an openly faithful replica. New access and parking were provided to the site which was also fully landscaped, with any trees or shrubs lost to the development being replaced as a requirement of planning permission.

The new building’s form, scale, roof pitch, window proportions and floor to ceiling heights match the original dwelling; however other design features have not been copied. Brickwork is handmade sand faced English bond and roof tiles are handmade sand faced plain clay tiles. Windows are white painted vertically sliding exposed box sashes.

Photo Voltaic solar panels are set within an area of flat roofing set below the main roof line.

The homes have an impressive specification, including luxury fitted kitchens by The Old School Kitchen Company, with stone worktops, porcelain fully tiled flooring and chrome sockets and downlighters. Each kitchen comes complete with Siemens appliances, including electric fan oven, gas hob microwave and extractor, dishwasher, washing machine and integrated fridge/freezer.

Bathrooms feature luxury white Villeroy and Bosch bathroom suites, contemporary fully tiled flooring and walls, chrome heated towel rails, downlighters and pressurised hot/cold water systems.

Each home has gas fired under floor heating, a security alarm system, six panel internal doors, carpeting to bedrooms and lounge, porcelain flooring to hall and cloakroom, built-in wardrobes to all bedrooms and two allocated parking spaces.
