An NHBC Pride in the Job Quality Award has provided well-earned recognition for the exemplary standard set by Gonzalo Rio-Rios, site manager for the project to construct The Dutch House by Nationcrest plc.
This unique, individually designed detached four bedroom property in Knotty Green, Buckinghamshire features Dutch style external detailing and incorporates a superb kitchen/breakfast/family room, four bedrooms and four en-suites.
The building is traditionally constructed with concrete floors to help reduce sound transmission, with brick and block external elevations incorporating top hung double glazed casement windows and a clay tiled roof. The property also has a high level of insulation throughout to improve energy efficiency.
Special design features internally include a drawing room fireplace in Bath Caststone by Rudloe Stoneworks, ornate cornices in the hall, landing, reception rooms and bedrooms and a staircase with turned newels, volute and walnut handrail and newel caps.
All of the reception rooms have walnut veneered panelled doors, with glazed double doors in the living room and dining room.
The drawing room, stairs, landing, all bedrooms and dressing room are carpeted, and the hall, kitchen, breakfast area, family room, utility room and four ensuite bathrooms feature porcelain tiling, with bathrooms being fully tiled and cloakrooms half tiled. Bathrooms and cloakrooms incorporate quality sanitaryware throughout, with chrome finished fittings.
The fitted kitchen units by Systemat are in a Grey Acacia and Shiny Cashmere finish, with Compac worktops and a granite breakfast bar. Appliances include a Miele induction hob with Falmec extractor, Miele multi function oven, microwave combination oven, steam oven, warming drawer, fully integrated dishwasher and two fridge freezers. There is also a Quooker boiling water tap.
The master bedroom, dressing room and bedrooms 2, 3 and 4, all incorporate fitted wardrobes from the Lawrence Walsh ranges, and the master bedroom and dining room featuring circuit lighting.
Central heating and hot water is powered by a gas fire boiler located in the garage. Underfloor heating is installed throughout the ground floor and in the first floor bathrooms, with the remaining rooms heated by radiators with thermostatic control valves.
Externally, the patio and paths are in natural stone, with the driveway finished in brick paving and accessed through electronically operated entrance gates.
Site Manager Gonzalo has been in the housing industry for over 30 years and has been a site manager for more than 18 years.
Commenting on the project, Gonzalo, said:
“Dutch House was a difficult project, with asbestos problems with the existing house which was demolished. Then we had problems with the wet weather at the beginning with the foundations. But it got easier as it progressed and turned out a very pristine development.”
Nationcrest PLC is a privately owned house building company with a very selective development programme in Surrey, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire.
Each house is individually designed by architects and constructed to the highest quality – and there are no standard house types. Every house is developed in sympathy with its local environmental characteristics. All construction is carefully carried out in traditional materials of brick, tile and stone by Nationcrest and specialist subcontractors.
Nationcrest always attaches a high priority to the standard of specification and finish internally, externally and in the detailed landscaping of the development. Mature trees are preserved where possible, and further trees are specifically planted to provide greater interest, privacy and screening.
